I’m assuming they meant cam johnson since cam Thomas isn’t the best cam on the team….
Nah I think Cam Thomas is who they are referring to because i assume as currently constructed, he would be the starting sgI’m assuming they meant cam johnson since cam Thomas isn’t the best cam on the team….
They’d have to be an unprecedented level of incompetent to be blind sided by this. Plus there are reports out there that Dame told them 5 days ago and they sat on it.
Not if they like the player for their rebuild. It would be a more unprecedented level of incompetence to pay grant that if you knew dame was asking out
Not if they like the player for their rebuild.
Yeah that literally makes no sense. Even if Scoot has a ridiculous rookie year, they aren’t a playoff team. Why give Grant all that money knowing Dame is out? Makes no senseGrant is like 30 and getting paid 2x his value
If Miami includes Martin I can buy it.
You’re the guy saying it’s two times his value. Brooks gets 20 mil but Grant is worth 16? Dude… He’s 28 now and over the last 3 seasons has averaged 20 a game.Grant is like 30 and getting paid 2x his value
Not if they like the player. They still need have a cap floor to worry about as they invest in younger cheaper players. Grant was a good soldier and took late shots in Detroit when they were doing the same thing. Grant’s not bad as bridge guy.Yeah that literally makes no sense. That’s fine, bridge guy I get. Taking them from a top 5 pick to middle ground. Not if they like the player. They still need have a cap floor to worry about as they invest in younger cheaper players. Well that’s frowned upon. The NBA will step in and fire their GM and make them hire Colangelo. You don’t need a bridge guy. You need tank guys
Bad contracts
More picks
My bad. The NBA only does that to one franchise.Well that’s frowned upon. The NBA will step in and fire their GM and make them hire Colangelo.
I agree with this all. There's nothing wrong or "unprofessional" in Dame asking for a trade and telling the Blazers where he would like to go.
There is also nothing wrong with Portland going with the best offer they receive. They need to prepare for "post Dame life".
Neither side has handled this particularly well, imo. Both sides have been wishy-washy and sent mixed messages.
As @bksballer89 pointed out, Dame let them know with plenty of time before the draft that he didn't want to play with guys who are 2-3 years away. They could have started shopping that pick then or started shopping Dame then...they did neither.
After they drafted Scoot, they could have shopped him, but didn't. Also, if memory serves, at some point during all of this they announced that they were committed to building a winner around Dame...but their actions have stated the opposite.
For Dames side, he's been just as wishy-washy as the Blazers tweeting about some things being more important than championships rather than simply stating "put a contender around me or trade me to one". It's also not like he had to sign his last extension. He could have walked and chosen his team rather than have to hope the Blazers will "do him a solid".
Good depth off the benchThats a great signing
