Demario Douglas - practice squad?
NoStill surprised?
There's a lot more room than 1st glance shows. It'll be very interesting to see which UDFAs sign with the Patriots.
Even more interesting to see which one(s) makes the 53 man roster.
Patriots selected Liberty WR Demario Douglas with the No. 210 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Douglas (5'9/179) spent the last two seasons as the WR1 in Hugh Freeze's offense. During his tenure with the Flames, Douglas totaled 172 receptions for 2,193 yards and 16 touchdowns. Serving primarily as a slot specialist, Douglas brings a 4.44 40-yard dash to the Patriots, and an ability to work in the short and intermediate parts of the field along with the screen game. Given his slender frame, Douglas will need to exercise caution when working across the middle of the field, but his ability in the return game could make him an immediate contributor on special teams.
I've only seen him in 2 games he played. He had my attention......Patriots selected LSU WR Kayshon Boutte with the No. 187 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Boutte (5’11/195) hit the ground running for the Tigers as a true freshman in 2020, posting a 45/735/5 line that included an SEC record 308 yards receiving against Ole Miss. He was building on that breakout campaign through his first six games of 2021 (38/509/9) before suffering a right ankle injury that eventually required two surgeries. He wasn’t the same in 2022 (48/538/2 in 11 games) before bombing the pre-draft process with a 4.50 40-yard dash and terrible jump and agility numbers. His 4.99 relative athletic score out of a possible 10.0 does not predict future NFL greatness. Boutte’s NFL prospects are all about getting healthier and re-establishing his top-end speed and underneath twitch ability. If so, he has the frame to qualify as a size/speed threat in a league getting smaller and smaller at wideout.
Well it lacked flash but it makes sense. Added pieces on defense, O line, P and K, and then some fodder.
All in all B+
Oh man, we did need better ST last year.Looks like a few guys are going to get a real chance to be ST players.
If they play the sideline, ST will have speed to burn. Hope they can tackle.
Just a few times, but it really, really hurt.Oh man, we did need better ST last year.
