One of these players may not be like the other......
The difference is that Smith plays defense, elevates his game to another level in the playoffs and has won a Cup.

Otherwise, yeah, they amazingly have similar per game stats throughout their regular season careers.

Also, Smith never got paid huge money in free agency. He seems happy at $5 million per and chasing Cups. Hayes wanted the bank instead.

I loved our day 1 draft. They were saying that Matvei the magician will be our first game breaker since Lindros and Bonk was a nice addition at 22.

2nd day i'm not to enthusiastic about. I really hope there is a plan in place for the weird decisions made in the 2nd and 3rd rounds today.

We're definitely going to have to just trust the scouts and Danny Briere with this one. We traded up into the 2nd round to draft the top-ranked North American goalie by Nhl Central Scouting, Carson Bjarnason. Then, with our very next pick in the 3rd round, we drafted another goalie (and another Russian), Ejor Zavragin.

It definitely sounds a bit of an alarm when your team takes two goalies back to back in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the same draft. I mean, we already have Hart and Ersson, who are both not exactly old (haha).

Perhaps these prospects are the next wave because they are technically 5-6 years younger, but there is only one net to guard in hockey...Lol You can't keep and use all four of these guys in the long-term.

Maybe this spells the end for Carter Hart, idk.

I think we are going to try the novel 2 forwards, 2 d-men and 2 goalie set up next year. May need an extra goalie or 2 to pull it off.
Love it !

This could be exactly what’s going on.

I wouldn't say it if we had taken only one goalie or even two goalies with one of them in a late round, but we literally traded into round two to take a top rated goalie and then took another goalie with our very next pick in the 3rd round. In a deep draft, why are we taking two goalies back to back in the 2nd and 3rd rounds when we didn't even have a 2nd to start with!? That and you're telling me there wasn't a center or defenseman that we liked at that spot?

Perhaps this is reading into it too much and these picks are just replacing guys like Sandstrom, Fedotov or Tomek on the depth chart.

We've gotten A's and A plus on all of the drafts grades. Mostly because Matvei the magician fell to us. I agree and am glad we had a really good 1st round i just hope there is a plan for our stockpile of goalies.

Not sure where they got this grade, we were a C at best. So far I'm not impressed at all with the new boss, same as the old boss.

The reason they call him the magician is because we'll never see him here, another wasted pick in the first round.

Reminds me of when malkin came out everyone was scared pens took the chance and won. I think the Flyer's will win this gamble and quite frankly they had to swing.

Well, I suppose the issue if we would've not drafted him is he likely goes to our rivals in Washington and could've potentially been the next OV for us to deal with. We obviously don't want that and an absolute generational superstar is what this team has lacked since Lindros, with all due respect to Giroux.

Riemsdyk goes to the Bruins for a one year, $1 million deal. Some of these guys coming from the sewer formally known as the Flyers under WTFC have little-to-no-value on the open market

Exactly does any of us want that BS again? Take the shot and hopefully it works out....I bet it does. The guy doesn't want to be in Russia who the hell does?
