Guentzel, the only high-end talent on their team that is still in his prime, just had ankle surgery.

They are really swinging for the fences in acquiring Karlsson, but idk who is going to actually defend for them. They must expect to win every game 7-6 and I don't see that sort of a team winning the Cup anytime soon either.

I'm absolutely shocked that they were able to add a player with a cap hit of $10 million though. That was some sort of magic trick.

They say he is one of the top goalie prospects not currently in the Nhl, but at 26 years old, for how much longer is he even considered a prospect? I mean, the clock is ticking on his career at this point.

Not sure if he makes the cut to start the season and is more likely an in season callup. Andrae and Zamula probably have a better shot of starting the season with the Flyers.

I agree with this 100% but i didn't like what i read about Zamula in this article much either. I hope there are other takes on our defensive situation as we get closer to the season.

Yeah, in order to make the playoffs this coming season, we're going to need to see several things happen. Couturier and Atkinson come back at 100% health and better than ever. The team as a whole stays fairly healthy for the majority of the season. Several youngsters grow into critical roles at the Nhl level or have career years, including guys like Farabee, Foerster, York, (at least) one of Allison/Laczynski/Brink, and (at least) one of Zamula/Andrae. All of that and guys like Cates, Tippett and Frost need to not take a step back after showing out last season. Oh and our goalies need to be pretty solid with arguably a below average defense in front of them.

It all just seems very unlikely...Lol

Some of it could surely happen, which keeps things interesting, but for everything to go THAT well THIS early on in a rebuild would ultimately not be good for the franchise.

Whoops, I said Andrae, but meant Attard. Everything else feels accurate though.

Also, this probably isn't known by many of you, but we released Jay O'Brien and acquired a compensatory 2nd round pick in the '24 draft in doing so. Apparently the Flyers don't think he will make it in the Nhl. And so, drafting him 19th overall in 2018 was an epic failure, but at least we recover some of those losses.
