Hello Stanford. Hope you and yours are healthy.

Re the bullpen: I think it stands like this as of now —
McGee
Harleeen
Alvarez
Leone
Doval
Castro
Rogers
Long

but I think FZ picks up a reliever or two in the next month. Watson is still out there as a FA. I think we will add another ML caliber catcher as well. He won’t be exciting, but he will be in Sac. Ruf will get a lot of ABs as the DH, but they will play matchups and spot rest starters too.

as for the schedule — I’m not sure everyone knows how it will change in 2023 —

12 games vs the other 4 teams in the NLW (48 games)
6 games vs the other 10 NL teams (60 games)
3 games against 14 AL teams (42 games)
12 games vs the A’ss

AL games would switch every year — e.g. if we have the 3 Yanka$$ games in Oracle in 2023, we play 3 in NY in 2024. Sort of an NBA style schedule.

initial thoughts are that I like it — all teams in the NLW play essentially the same schedule (except for the rivalry games), we see every team every year, and divisions still make sense.

Thx.....

I like getting rid of the rotating AL Division interplay. Still favor junking NL and AL terminology and just going straight West / East Divisions. This is a step in the right direction

Now if we can 86 the walk-up music and only allow batting glove adjustments prior to 1st pitch we'd probably shave 1/2hr off the game

The big problem (and probably a deal breaker) is that the big draw teams seem to be grouped and some of the divisions have only crap teams. California, Mid-West and North-East all have 2 big draw teams. North-East has the top 2 big draw teams and 2 other big-ish draw teams. The West and South-East divisions are pure crap.

Carlos Martinez signs a minor league deal with the Giants. Gotta figure he jumps to the front of the line for spot starts. He is a HUGE high-side flyer.

I'm ok with walkup music. I'm not sure I want to speed up the game anyway. Although, interminable pitching changes do suck ass.

That's not terrible. But I think you have to account for 32 teams pretty soon. Thus 8x4 divisions. I'd guess the new franchises will go to POR and LV.

Yup. Him and the Hebrew. Also, the Giants are talking to Danny Duffy about a sign and stash deal (he'll be ready in June).

NOW BRING ME SUZUKI.

1/1.75

Why?
First, I need to cut you about the GREATEST backup catcher EVER. And now, for your blatant antisemitism.

Don' be hatin on the Hebrews.

And Tampa and Oakland will likely relocate.

But I can only plan for what I know.

BOLD = What I'd call classic teams.

North- East division wins on those terms.

The West would be the biggest loser followed by the South - East.

Every other division has three it seems.

IMHO that is...

I could live with this. If the DH is everywhere what does it matter?

And I rank the Yanks, Sox, Cubs, Cards, Giants and Dodgers as the big-draw teams. The Mets and Phils (and maybe the Tigers, Braves and Pirates) are just outside that, imho.

That makes this alignment very favorable to the teams in the NE Div, quite favorable to the MW and California divs and a big loser to the SE, GL and West Gotta think that will cause enough trouble to be a deal breaker.

But assuming this alignment “passes”, I would guess that the playoffs would be 6 Div winners and 6 WC teams. I think that would mean the 4 top Div winners get a “bye” and the other 2 Div winners host the lower 2 WC teams in a best of 3 (maybe with a ghost win? I am not against that idea) and the top 2 WC teams face off in a straight best of 3. No reseeding as the playoffs progress, imho (unless they use the NFL model of reseeding based on original seed, not season record).

Extrapolating this format to the 2021 season (and of course using current alignment)…

1) Giants
2) Rays
3) Astros / Brewers
4) Astros / Brewers

5) White Sox
6) Braves
7) Dodgers
8) Yankees / Red Sox
9) Yankees / Red Sox
10) Blue Jays
11) Cardinals / Mariners
12) Cardinals / Mariners

Round 1

A) Cardinals / Mariners @ White Sox

B) Cardinals / Mariners @ Braves

c) Blue Jays @ Dodgers

d) Yankees / Red Sox @ Yankees / Red Sox

Round 2

e) Winner of series d @ Giants

f) winner of series c @ Rays

g) winner of series b @ Astros / Brewers

h) winner of series a @ Astros / Brewers

Round 3

i) winner of h @ winner of e

j) winner of g @ winner of f

World Series

Winner of i vs winner of j (HFA determined by original seed)

Well, there goes Suzuki and Schwarber.

Castellanos, Conforto, Pedersen and Bryant are probably targets at this point. Bryant’s market is shrinking now that the Phills are likely off the table. Any chance a 5/100 gets it done? Would either side be interested in that?

Suzuki signed a 5/85 with a full No trade and a 14m posting fee (making it essentially a 5/99).

Wow. That escalated quickly.
