Hope he does leave because then Tomlin would no longer have his inside man to promote from within

I knew it. As soon as the news broke that the Giants requested the interview I figured it was only a matter of time.

Yay another internal hire.

Doesn't matter anyway. Tomlin is the Exalted and Eternal HC and DC of the most Holy Steeler Empire. All praise his name and lineage. Austin keeps doing mostly the same job, but also gets to ferry orders from Tomlin to the other Defensive coaches, too. And gets more money for it.

I was excited when the Bengals hired Austin years ago. The Zimmer D had become a little watered down under Paul Guenther and I thought Austin would bring in some new ideas to make it work. The roster was much worse than I had assumed as some of our core guys were either getting old or going crazy (Burfict).... But, it was a disastrous year. The defense completely failed mid-season and the Bengals lost 7 of 8. Austin was fired during the middle of that streak.
Anyway, probably doesn't matter because Tomlin is in charge anyway... The guy definitely has experience and not everyone has TJ Watt so that helps.

There is enough bad though. No matter whatever good they see in him, there is too much bad to make him a possible franchise QB. And if he's not, you need to look elsewhere.

Trying to justify Mason as a starter brings back flashbacks to folks thinking Jim Miller or Landry Jones were good.

This feels like one of those 1 night stand situations where you convince yourself it’s worth it only to try & chew your arm off the morning after…

It baffles me that there are still loads of fans out there that believe Mason can be that franchise guy.

For real. Youre audience really shows it’s age when it has nothing to say but to call you a racist
