Does it piss anyone else off that the Steelers appear to have done nothing to free up more money prior to FA? Maybe it just wasn't reported (yet)? Still time I guess...

Just a reminder that cutting dead weight with Schobert & Banner would free up $13m.

I'd like them to go after Billy Turner. He can play everywhere on the line (and very well!) but C.

Packers had to cut him as they gut their roster to fit in Rodgers and Adams' tag.

Same here. Keeps the cap space so they can go get the other players they need to make this a viable championship roster in a year or two.

Mitchell Trubisky vs. Mason Rudolph

View attachment 291475
Maybe.

But we know for sure that Mason isn't the Franchise. He's just a guy.

Trubisky has a high likelihood of just being a bridge player, but he'll get a shot. And I'm here for that. Better to give someone new a shot and see, rather than just spin the wheels with Mason for a year.

Stockpile some premium picks for next year and be ready to hunt a trophy if necessary.

Like I said on another thread (don't know which one it was), but I would have found a problem with whoever we got no matter what. So here's my analysis:

Con - Mitchel Trubisky is an average QB who couldn't cut it as the starter for a losing team in Chicago.
Con - He settled for a backup job for Buffalo because noone would sign him as a starter.
Con - Not sure of the money behind it but I'm sure we overpaid for him.
Pro - He has a winning record as a starter.
Pro - He's agile and can be a decent mobile QB
Pro - He led the Bears to the playoffs in 2018 with an 11-3 record as a starter
Pro - Not too shabby TD:INT ratio (64 TDs, 38 INTs)

Overall feeling? Meh.

He had horrible coaching in Chicago and spent a year in Buffalo where Allen developed into a stud....now Pitt offensive coaches can work with him.

In Chicago he had a good running game and defense....in Pitt he should have the same. Him being mobile means you can upgrade the OL but don't break the bank to do so.....he can run if need be.
