That's what I said earlier this season and Mr @tlance was all over me, LOL.

Because he has declined.

He doesn’t own both ends of the floor like he used to in his prime.

He is still really good, but no longer legitimately in the conversation for league’s best player.

Not anymore. Father Time etc etc

I mean, we saw that this year. He put up all star caliber numbers, but it didn't translate to wins. Largely, imo, because he can't play both ends of the floor anymore and he can't just completely take over a game for long stretches anymore.

Lebron, healthy AD and a 3rd wheel that fits? Yeah, Lebron can get another title if the role players make any sense at all. But Lebron dragging flotsam and jetsom to the playoffs, let alone the finals...those days are over.

That makes no sense honestly.

What are they going to get?

They dealt away their best support pieces last season. Never going to have enough to be a contender around Dame. Trade him.

This is true. But they are adamant to keep him and for whatever ungodly reason he wants to stay.

i would go for ayton and other pieces (if they have the money) and keep my draft pick
No doubt Ayton is getting a max contract somewhere

they have cap space

Another entrant into the Ayton sweepstakes

The problem is the hoops they need to jump through to get it

You’re basically saying take Ayton and 7 over

Nurkic
Josh hart
Any other FAs they want to keep
Jerami grant (rumors guy for the 7 pick)

I’m not sure either can come close to being a title team. But I’m not sure selling out for Ayton makes them that much better than keep nurkic either

Kind of depends what they do with it. Obviously they'd need to move Bledsoe or cut him (likely the latter) and then decide what to do with Hart. But then they have holds for Simons and Nurkic to deal with.

Yea

Simons is a real problem timing wise also. Because as soon as someone offers him a deal they have to match it. Maybe they can get him to chill for a sec and let them make their moves but that's a big longshot.

Forgot Simon’s was also a fa .

Add him to the list

I’m taking the non-Ayton side if we’re talking about a 1-2 year plan

Which is basically the rest of dame’s peak

Ayton isn't a big enough upgrade over Nurkic to consider bringing him in.

IMO.

A trade for Grant means detroit eats the dead money on Bledsoe at least lol. Think it's like 4 mil. I doubt he'd ever play a minute in detroit.

Portland has a 20m trade exception
