5-6 years ago? Sure. Now? Nope.

Lakers are projected 7th in the West at +2200, next team is at +4000 (Utah). This is with only a handful of players even on the roster for next season and no head coach yet.

The oddsmakers don't like the Grizz much for whatever reason. 5th in the West at +1900? A lot of value there.

Cool. What do you think that means? About 4-6 teams every year are actually contenders. Lakers aren’t even close to being among that group.

How many times has Lebron made the playoffs and not been a contender? Once (when AD got hurt vs the Suns with a lead in in the series)? Sure, he's getting older. His surrounding players will be important of course (which, like last season, are largely unknown right now).

The Lakers have missed the playoffs more than they’ve made the playoffs with LeBron.

More so with an aging lineup

Everyone is aging. Russ (if he stays) isn't much of an injury risk. AD doesn't need to be (but we know the reality). The rest of the team could very well be much younger next season; only THT and Nunn are guaranteed back (with team options on three more kids: Reaves, Gabriel and Johnson). That leaves at least 7 open roster spots TBD. McClung and Jones are 2 way players, and the hope is to bring back Monk as one of those 7. Melo and Dwight could be in the mix, but only as depth/matchup players.

So I guess injuries are no longer a factor...?
Injuries are always a factor for everyone. We're not talking recurring injuries with Lebron, so each year is fresh but with the intention to limit his minutes more.

I didn't mean to single you out, just didn't want to go back and quote the other posts as well. Laziness, lol.

The title still very much counts. Just saying the rest was perfect for LA. Not that other teams didn't also benefit.

Everyone benefitted from the time off. Some teams lost that home court advantage, which is a sizable loss too.

Exactly and they'd add a few more vets most likely so they have depth.

Convinced Monk will be gone.

No proof, just a hunch.

He and his agent mentioned multiple times that he wants back, and they know the Lakers limitations. Would likely require their TPMLE.
