Might be hard to re-sign Jewell and Johnson.. Although with both missing most of the season it is possible. I think Jewell and Johnson are types of ILB's that are very underappreciated because they aren't flashy like a Kenny Young but they both produce, they are both signal callers, dependable... and hardly miss tackles. Kenny Young may flash on someone and make a big play but Alexander Johnson and Josey Jewell are going to be in the right spot and make the tackles 9 times out of 10.

This is a good problem to have. Remember when we didn't have a single good ILB and we couldn't find any in the draft only to draft guys like Lamin Barrow in rd 5 and trade for guys like Dakota Watson and Paris Lenon?

I enjoy this tough decision.... So many good options/ ways we can go at ILB this offseason.

Mel Kiper has us moving back to 13 and picking up a 3rd round pick from CLE and then selecting Jermaine Johnson ii @ 13 in his latest mock.

Proud Of You Reaction GIF
I think that’s a terrible trade for us, if we’re going to move back in the 1st round I want either a late 2nd or an early 3rd not a mid 3rd.

Evero knows Young, that’s for sure.

That he does. He also may have been the reason Young was traded away. ;)

One thing I mentioned when this happened is that I feel Young was part of the Von Miller trade in a round about way... Miller had the ankle injury and was going to miss the week we traded for Young. We needed an ILB very bad for that week after they sucked vs the Browns. I feel we completed the trade a week later. Not that it was a blockbuster. Young wasn't going to get great return value for the Rams with him losing his starting job and his contract expiring but I think the full trade was discussed the week before we officially traded Miller.

Almost spot on according to the value chart. We actually win 1355 to 1350. Take it for what it is worth, though.

In PFN mocks, we could pull a 2nd plus for that fall back, though... :)

I just see last year where Dallas traded back 2 spots with Philly in the 1st and picked up a 3rd, we should get more than that if we're gonna trade back 4 spots.

I get it. I would be let down if that was all we got. I doubt we pull a 2nd, but maybe if we gave back a pick. But I thought Paton loved his 3rds and 4ths and tries to stockpile them.

It all depends on how the board shakes out. If you have 4 guys you would be happy with still on the board at 9 you take the extra value if you can. Its like free money.

I mentioned Evero knowing Young not implying Evero is in love with Young, but that he knows him …..for better or worse.

I think Evero was more a DB coach w/rammies, so I doubt he was directly involved with moving Young to Denver. Maybe indirectly?

I remember you thinking (and I concurred) that Young may have been part of the Miller transaction. There was certainly a conversation going on in that timeframe between the two GMs. Your thesis stands the test of reason.

I kind of use the Shanahan trade when we had the 10th pick and traded back to the 15th and got a 2nd round pick. Yes, it should be a 2nd to move 4 spots down. Guess who Shanahan picked in that draft.......

Draftcrazy should know...... it was Deltha O'Neal

A guy has peaked my interest is Marcus Jones, CB from Houston. He would be good depth guy, and an exceptional returner. I think he could use some developement as a CB, but would still contribute as a returner, not sure how much he would offer on coverage units.

I had a post similar to this in the mock draft thread. I was more asking if he would be able to contribute at all on D or if he would just be a return man, so thank you.

Right note my favorite target at #9 is Sauce. If he’s available, I’m pounding the table.
