The Broncos should look for the opportunity to draft a RT - good enough to play there in his 1st year and good enough to move over to LT when Bowles is done.
If we actually select at #9, I could see an OT or an edge available there at good value.

Is Todd Bowels our LT now? ;)

As you know I agree with this though. We need a good young RT. We have done enough signing injury prone RT's. Massie was fine last year but we need a long term guy so we can have some consistency on the right side of the line.

I would take the top picks at any of the OL positions. Cushenberry is imminently upgradable at Center. We have issues at guard. Bolles is the most reliable piece. If we’re going to protect the QB and pound the rock with Williams & Co, we need better talent and/or execution up front.

Bolles, IMO, has had one good year out of four. Reliable is not the word I would use to describe him, unless we are talking penalties. ;)

I fixed it for you. Bolles was at least better this year then his first 3 years but nowhere near what he did in year 4. I am fine with him coming back as our starting LT this year though.

When it comes to draft. BPA, BPA, BPA. We have enough young OG's to compete but nothing is set in stone there.. I would feel better if we had one that we knew was going to be REALLY good. Risner looked good as a rookie but not so good the last two years. We are hoping Meinerz can be quality he looks like he could be. Muti is good depth not sure we want him starting (Still could turn into a starter) Glasgow took the paycut and I think our plan is to have him be a depth guy who can start if needed. Less wear and tear in his body and he has been average. We really don't know what we have at OG yet and it might be an area we need something we know what we have and let the others compete. We could use a young and upcoming OT (to play RT or eventually swing over to play LT if needed like Mingo mentioned.

I am fine with Cushenberry. He isn't the best Center in the world, sure there are better Center's out there but I think he is better then many give him credit for. He is a leader, he is durable and his play is pretty consistent. Not a Pro Bowl caliber C but hard to find those. I want stability/consistency/leadership at the C position. If we are in the position to get a world beater that is better then Cushenberry, sure... But I don't want to spend an early pick on a C (because I feel it isn't necessary at this time) and I don't really think we will find a steady/solid C later in the draft that is better then Cushenberry. I would bet on Cushenberry being our starter at Center until at least his contract is up.

You made my point for me whether you realize it or not.

“If we’re going to protect the QB and pound the rock with Williams & Co, we need better talent and/or execution up front.”

DC Crunchberry needs to step up. He’s not Nails or Paradis and we need that level of play to get to where we want to go. Simple as that. He’s not as good as you seem to give him credit for. Agree to disagree.

You lost me.

First of all, who is the quote from, you in a previous post?

And my criticism of Bolles isn’t necessarily an endorsement of any other Olinemen. I was just mildly disagreeing with you that Bolles has been reliable.

Yes, quoting my post.

My overarching point was that our OL was just been okay last year. Serviceable. The way DC describes Cushenberry comes to mind.
I feel that we need better play in the trenches, on both sides of the back, to get to the next level.

I feel you made my point by suggesting that I overvalued Bolles play when, arguably, he was the best talent our OL had to offer last year.

Well, if he doesn't make it as an offensive lineman, he's got a career in proctology awaiting

It would be a shame though, I for one am looking forward to that flowing pitch left to the RB play that could famously be called "The Bowels Movement"

Again- I am not disagreeing with you. I am agreeing we need to get better on the OL. I don't think one single fan would disagree with that statement. That is like saying we need to play better on special teams. It really isn't even an argument. I'm just telling you why I think Cushenberry will still be our starter next year and probably the year after. That doesn't mean we won't try to get better on the OL. Could we upgrade there? Sure... But I think we are sticking with him. When I said Cushenberry isn't an all pro (Nalen and Paradis were all pro) so I would be agreeing with you that he isn't Nalen or Paradis.

The trenches are an area I think EVERY team EVERY year looks to get better at.

DC,
any late rounders you have a strong feeling about?

Yes. Any position you are looking for?

Really like Idaho S Tyrese Dedmon later in the draft. I think Iowa S Dane Belton may not qualify as a true sleeper as he probably goes middle rounds but I think this guy can make a great DB maybe a lot like Micah Hyde. Hyde played CB in college and made the switch to S in the NFL. Belton played more of a LB/S hybrid but will play S in the NFL. I think he has similar skills maybe not the playmaker Hyde is but very smart and reliable and always in the right spot. Florida DE Zach Carter I think will be a nice find for someone later on as an EDGE guy. Western Kentucky QB Bailey Zappe is well known from a college standpoint as he broke several records but I think he can develop into a good NFL QB. I think he is going to be undervalued in the draft. Georgia RB Zamir White is a guy I would keep an eye on too. So many RB's have declared and he has had a history of knee issues but he is going to be of good value, IMO.. Georgia was good about not over using him and saving on his body a bit for the NFL. One more knee injury and his NFL career/stock was about to be in big time jeopardy. I think they did a huge favor for him but not over using him in college. His counter part James Cook should make a great 3rd down back. I think the Titans should highly consider him or Jerrion Early to go with Derrick Henry. Dedmon of Idaho is a true sleeper to me. Tennessee LB Jeremy Banks is near the top of my sleeper list. He doesn't get talked about enough. Everytime I watched Tenn he stookd out to me. He moves well, has good ball skills and is very physical. Going into this year my two big sleepers were Auburn CB Roger McCreary and Coastal Carolina TE Isaiah Likely but both have gotten the love they deserve and will go much earlier then projected going into this year.
Jaivvon Haleigh WR Coastal Carolina is another... I will add more later when I have some more time here. I've got more. Illinois CB Michael Witherspoon, Kentucky S Yusurf Corker.

What do you think about FSU RB Jashaun Corbin? He had several long runs this season and has good size.

Corbin is pretty solid. It isn't a great RB draft but there are so many in that mid round range that are clustered together. Corbin has a little bit of an injury history but nothing major. He missed his SOPH season at A&M as I am sure you know but I don't think that will impact his stock too much. Another guy like Zamir White that will perhaps be a better pro then college back because of the low usage. I think these two are pretty darn similar in terms of draft stock. Corbin looked great as a FR at A&M then got hurt and transferred. He took advantage of his usage at FSU and I think this year he really looked to be coming back into what people thought he could be as as FR. He has pretty good vision, explosion and runs well for a big RB. There are a lot of RB's I like in the mid rounds not a lot I like in the early rounds and Corbin is in that cluster. How he does at the Combine and checks out health wise will determine how high he goes. I think he will make it in the NFL. Like White after his injuries I think FSU did a good job of not over-using him for his own good as he continues his career in the NFL. His FR year he looked like he was going to be an elite RB. He still looks like a good RB to me, he was starting to head back into those footsteps this year. I think he probably offers more then most RB's in the mid round range when you factor in size/speed. I will be very interested to see his 40 time. ACC defenses are horrible and typically that is a concern of mine with an ACC RB but Corbin showed as a FR he could do it vs the SEC as well. He changes direction well. Coming out of HS I figured he might play LB in college as he was a very good LB as well. Tough guy who has the athletic ability and size to last in the NFL for a long time.

Zamir White and Jashaun Corbin talent wise are potential steals in this draft. They both have nearly everything you look for in a RB at the next level. Good size, speed, can explode and both while not shifty 3rd down backs can catch a little out of the backfield. Both break tackles. I think Corbin probably has better speed then White from what I have seen.

Very funny you asked. I had Mitchell typed out in my sleepers but then I thought he wasn't really a sleeper so I left him out. He is rising and won some post season awards. I don't usually LOVE OL but MAx Mitchell is a guy I LOVE.. Watched a lot of Louisiana this year when I knew Napier might be coming to Florida. Mitchell is great and Napier is great with OL. Just had 2 transfer to Florida... Keep advocating for Mitchell, Mingo. He will make you look smart. :)
