So the Army/Navy game isn't sports because it has no impact on the national stage?

This game is unlike any other. That's what makes it special.

Of course it’s sports so that means you judge the statement with a sports mindset. When you have a rivalry go 7 decades without producing a championship winner or even a contender it doesn’t fit that claim in a sports criteria. The claim leans too heavily on the ancillary other stuff.

I never look at this game from the national stage standpoint.

I'd say it's the only rivalry of meaning that has no impact on the national stage.

Ha! I’m not picking on you but I have to disagree again. People coast to coast care about this game so it is national more so than most rivalries which are regional in nature.

Ha! I’m not picking on you but I have to disagree again. People coast to coast care about this game so it is national more so than most rivalries which are regional in nature.

I said this game has no impact on the national stage. Was I wrong in say that? When's the last time either team finished the regular season in the running for a big time bowl game? That's what I meant. I never said people don't care about this game.

The Warriors just don't have the same depth.....I said they would miss Payton and Porter.

They gambled that the young guys and the replacements (J Green, DDV) would fill in for that depth. So far only DDV and recently Kuminga have shown any reliability off the bench. It's still early, if Kuminga is for real they go 8 deep which is all you really need in the playoffs. Be nice for one more bench player to emerge (or be traded for).

All that said, repeating was always going to be hard and doesn't look very likely right now. If the Celtics and Warriors had their series tomorrow the Celtics would win in 5. They look very strong.

Yeah I saw that, hopefully they can move the ball. I actually think Huntley is one of the better backups in the league.
