It was the right move but what remains to be seen is if it was for the right reasons. He was hired to take the Sixers to the next level. He took them to the same places Brett Brown did. He was given every opportunity. He blew two 2nd round series vs Hawks and now Celtics. I have no problem with the decision to fire Doc. I don’t like him as a coach. I have a problem if it’s James Harden who forces him out and that’s where the decision making came from.

Embiid might be too much? What about a smaller addition at C (Bropez) and a trade for someone like Paul George to play the 3? Might be tough to get matching salaries though...

What is the ideal position for Jaylen? Is he a 4, or even a 3?
That’s a fair point.

Sam Cassell deserves a opportunity to be a HC......he put in the time as an assistant. But, there are a lot of good coaches available.

They are right that taking away the pick hurts a future player

Even this year nba draft only 58 picks

Get some supp picks out there to round out to the normal 60

Does it though? It just moves the last drafted player to a UDFA signing. which often proves better for the player.

It’s just more Embiid being Embiid. Doc is the only coach who designed an offense around him and his talents and it resulted in his 3 best years. It screams insecure and selfish.

I'm still trying to adjust to your very modified stance on Embiid. From all the MVP support to this? What a change one game makes sometimes I guess...

He’s my pick for the next head coach. I want to rip the band off on a rebuild though.

I think it’s becoming apparent though that this has evolved into the Morey/Harden show. They seem to have both soured on the Rockets (or in Morey’s case Rockets soured on him) at the same time. They then have worked to become reunited to build another team in their vision. It’s clear now that Harden didn’t want to be in Philly to play with Embiid. It’s clear he wanted to be reunited with Morey who will give him what he wants. I think that means that D’Antoni will be the next coach. Hope I’m wrong but I called the D’Antoni shot over a year ago.

It’s not one game. It’s the reality that you can’t ignore the playoff failure and the near 10 PPG drop that occurs. Additionally, read my last post. I really think that the Sixers going forward are all about Morey/Harden. I think they’re going to hire D’Antoni. Embiid can’t play in that system and D’Antoni has no idea what to do with a traditional and elite 5 like Embiid. If they do what I think they’re doing Embiid gets worse not better. Also, coming off of an MVP and the last 3 years this asset is never going to be worth more than it is now. Embiid can fetch one or two young promising players plus 5-6 first round picks. Embiid is getting older and because of his style of play, coupled with injury history, he won’t age well.

I disagree. His teams had to often play 4 on 5 in playoff half court. The Sixers had too many “specialists” like Redick, Belinelli, etc… who were targets in playoff half court defense. This team has better pieces than what Brett had.

It's intriguing but I doubt they go with Mr Pringles.

This is your time to shine Koby. Give up Jarrett Allen and Okoro or LeVert for the 3rd pick. Draft Miller and you got your wing. Someone can acquire Nurkic in a 3-team deal

They did get Cade...but the other 3 years have all been 2 plus spots lost.
Enough to keep the hardcore fans. The league decided the potential for casual fans to jump on board was not high enough in Detroit. That is the key performance indicator they will use to make the dirty decisions.

select all - delete
You can make the refs disappear any way you want. I chose death because it was quick to write. No need create some other scenario just because certain people have very delicate sensibilities.

If the top 20 refs are deleted, and they went with the next 20, nothing would be worse.

They had Butler for one half season. Harris is part of the problem. Ben Simmons was part of the problem. In fact, those other problems helped to protect what we now see as another problem…Embiid is suspect in playoff competition. He plays a position as a finesse player when that position in playoff basketball calls for a physical player. It’s an adjustment AD has made in his game that Embiid hasn’t made in his for playoffs. AD has found that merger of allocating both styles. Embiid has not.

Brown’s teams weren’t better than Doc’s.

Bwahaha! Why would adding those players help Portland accomplish their goal of Dame staying to compete for a championship? All 3 of those guys looked poor in the playoffs. Yikes.
