I’m just waiting this out for the full story to come out

If he’s not a suspect then why is he sitting?

If the cops are covering it up, it’ll come out and everyone will get dealt with.

I have said this before and will say it again I am sure.

Since when has being proven guilty of a crime (in this case murder) the bar for getting suspended from athletic participation?

Just because there isn’t enough there to convict the man and send him to prison doesn’t mean he should be playing college basketball.

And to be honest?

This getting mostly ignored makes it more likely he will repeat this mistake.

I'd like to see the text.

Did it say "Hey, bring me my gun?"

Or did it say "Hey, bring me my gun I need to shoot some fool"?

If a friend asks me to bring him his gun without telling me why and then commits a crime with it, I shouldn't be held accountable in any way.

If they tell me they're going to commit a crime and I bring it, now I'm an accessory.

If your friend said “bring me my gun”

To a nightclub?

I would hope you would at least ask why before blindly agreeing.

Why would he need his gun at that time and place?

So the suspension retroactively includes games he's missed being away from the team? That's insane. Effectively it's a 2 game suspension and could play on MONDAY.

That's wild.
Yep...he got off extremely light.

I'll let it go for now though...but I will slam him and the league if/when he fucks up again in the future.
Time will tell if he's actually learned anything.

Obviously, I haven’t seen the text.

But, Devils advocate…

If someone asks me to bring them a gun, and it’s not to their home or the goddamn shooting range, I may have questions.

If it’s to bring it to a fast food establishment, because they said they saw a gun in the car of someone they were beefing with?

Im blocking their number and seriously considering whooping their ass.

Maybe not this same mistake but likely other mistakes.

When the police insist you are not a suspect and just a witness?

They should get a pretty good pick, though. Which is what they needed all along...
Im sure the players don’t give a shit.

But, you are correct.

If they miss the playoffs, they keep their pick and it should be a decent one.

Portland could have two first-round picks in the 2023 draft. Or it could have none.

The Blazers’ own 2023 first is owed to the Chicago Bulls, but it only conveys if it falls outside the lottery. If Portland misses the playoffs, it keeps a top-14 pick and the protections roll over to 2024.

As per the Hart deal, Portland will get the Knicks’ first-round pick if that also falls outside the lottery.

So if New York makes the playoffs and the Blazers don’t, voila, two first-round picks.

On the flip side, if the Knicks miss the playoffs and the Blazers get in, zero first-round selections in 2023.

Because of the protections placed on their own 2023 first-round pick and New York’s, along with the unconfirmed trove of second-rounders Portland got from the Warriors, compiling a list of the Blazers’ future selections is almost an exercise in futility.

However, for what it’s worth, they do have for certain:

  • 2024 second-round pick via Atlanta (if it falls between 56-60)
  • 2024 second-round pick (more favorable between Charlotte/Minnesota)
  • 2027 own second-round pick
  • 2027 second-round pick via New Orleans
  • 2028 own second-round pick (to Chicago if first-round pick owed to Bulls has not conveyed)
  • 2029 own first-round pick

And as stated guys get suspended all the time for poor judgement or violation of team rules. I haven’t seen anyone say he should be in jail.

What team rule did he violate?

From what I have read, at most, he didn't bring the gun onto campus or to team facilities. He transported it from point A to point B and handed it to the owner.

I doubt there's team rule that says players aren't ever allowed to touch a gun.

Strange take by you on this one, but hey go with it. He deserved a suspension for the whole making a mockery of being frisked alone, then he continued doing it.
