All teams have injuries. The difference this year is that the injuries have been to all-stars.

True. What caught my attention was when you said both teams in the Finals have no key injuries. I'd consider a starting SG a key injury. Obviously DiVincenzo isn't an all star though. I just hope for the remainder of the Finals no team gets hit by the injury bug.

Finals (with Giannis playing) is one of the few series (if any) without a key injury this postseason.

And what happens next year when the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors and Jazz are all healthy and you're the #5 or #6 seed?

Will the guard still be changed?

Kawhi if hes even on the Clippers sits like 25 games a year simply for fun so not sure they really factor into this seeding exercise.

Yes, super lucky he wasn't done like he has been so many times before in the playoffs. You just said, teams that bring in injury prone old guys are playing with fire. CP3's picture is in the dictionary next to "injury prone old guys". You got lucky, enjoy it. I'm rooting for the Suns by the way.
It was a risk. However, the Suns were still able to win when he went down because they built a balanced team through the draft.

And of course, luck is part of it. It always is.

Do you honestly think they get past the Lakers in the first round if AD stays healthy? Lakers were up 2-1 when he got hurt.
It would have been a tough road, but yes, I think they still could have won.

They still managed to be a top 4 seed both years.

Correct but they finished below the Suns

Because whether or not you decide to use the Suns good health against them(which is dumb to begin with) it doesn matter with the Clippers. Their star player could get bionic limbs and he would still sit for shits and giggles

The injuries thing cracks me up. Injuries are part of the game. And there is no doubt, they can certainly make or break your season. However, when you try to build a super team with older players or injury prone players, don't be shocked when your season comes to a screeching halt! The Suns and Bucks have simply played the competition that is in front of them and won. The Bucks had to win without Giannis at times and the Suns have had to win without CP3 at times. Everyone can speculate that the Suns or Bucks wouldn't be here if it wasn't for their opponents injuries, but speculation is not fact.

And... when the same thing happens to the Lakers or Nets or Clippers next year, which if you are playing the odds, you can almost guarantee it will happen to at least one of those teams, remember, father time is undefeated and injury prone players are just that.

It is refreshing to see teams that were primarily built through the draft make a run at the title. A changing of the guard is long over due.
That first comment is beyond comical as the Suns made their huge leap by adding an aging, injury prone player....who finally stayed healthy.

Of course, it is a factor. It's part of the game. When you invest a lot of stock in oft-injured or aging players, you are simply playing the odds it won't happen.
agree, but by this "logic" probably wasn't smart to deal for CP3.

Super lucky when CP3 got COVID and injured his arm and tore ligaments in his wrist. :L
Missed a couple games with Covid, while the opponent lost arguably the best player in the league for the entire series.....and still gave a good fight.

FYI, I lived in Phoenix a few years and am pulling for the Suns.

when he went down in the playoffs he missed 2 games.....the other team was missing a decent player for the series.

suns still get credit, but to say other teams got what they deserved for bringing in older, injury prone players was an absurd comment for you to make when CP is the epitome of that statement.

Is Murray old? Kawhi? AD? Latter 2 injury prone, sure....but only CP of that group is old AND injury prone.

Not sure how it is beyond comical when I clearly said it can make or break your season and luck is always part of it. The clippers won 2 without Leonard and the Suns won 2 without Paul. The difference is the Suns have a more balanced team. And they did close them out in LA by 27.

Well they are going to get a title out of it and no one can say it wasn’t primarily CP3 that made the difference. With the advent of super teams you just have to roll tne dice.

Every team in the NBA is full of literally the best players of the sport on Earth, every one was a big time college or one and done talent. Especially the playoff teams. So in fact luck is and always has been the single biggest factor in every title, whether it's luck in assembling the team (ping pong balls, Portland takes Bowie over Jordan, Minnesota takes 2 PGs over Steph, etc) or injury luck or random luck or both in the actual games.

Doesn't take away the titles or the pleasure it gives fans. They all count.
