though typical complainers in their forums will complain thrilled with what the Browns have done so far, especially given the reduced cap. Figured they'd do an about face from last year and upgrade D and did with an elite player. Their kind...ascending coming off rookie deal. Also some other quality players. Like nearly all the defensive guys (other than Takk) were from solid units on really good defenses.

Thought I saw currently top in spending for 2021 with only $1 mil in dead cap money. Shows they have a handle on how to use the cap to their advantage. Guess that could change if they end up needing to cut someone.

This kid is a moron

Actually I don't blame him. His rookie contract guarantees had been voided and he was on a 3 year low-value, no-guarantee contract. If he's a bum it won't matter whether he's on a good contract, bad contract, or no contract...because he won't see any of the money. If he's a $1M player he's better off as a FA who is free to sign a 1 year prove-it deal it wherever he wants to play so he can make some real money afterwards, (if he does prove it)*. If he's a $5M+ player he's also better off as a FA. Either way the current rookie contract wasn't a positive. The Dolphins weren't helping. They were merely swapping 7th round picks to buy a lottery ticket. He should clear waivers and we'll find out if he's a bum come August. I'd bet that he is a bum, but we'll see.

*Technically he'd need to sign a deal which voided or gave him an out after 2021.

Hell ya. The Darby signing was good but not great but this is a really great signing. He must’ve really wanted to play for Fangio again given he took less than half of what he was scheduled to make if he stayed with Chicago.

Even beyond that he took less than Darby and I would say Fuller is the #1 CB right now on the team.

Lots of initial value in these 1 year deals for teams. Chiefs spent a lot on Thuney but then they were able to balance that with getting Kyle Long fairly cheap for 1 year. Not something you can bank on long-term but really good for flexibility.
