I think Minshew is a pretty good QB, and I think O’Connell has the potential to be good. Minshew almost led the Colts to the playoffs last year.
Meh, they should trade for Kirk Cousins and actually try to win.

Minshew is capable of getting this Raiders team to the playoffs - he almost got the Colts there last season and this Raiders team looks better than last year’s Colts team

He's about half as good as Cousins.

Exactly.

The Raiders have more offensive firepower too. It's why I wasn't really worried about the QB position.

He is better than Jimmy G and a rookie AOC.

And we very well might have the best DL in football. And we improved the OL.

Yeah I would have preferred him over Sammie D for my Vikes.

You look at "chart" value on any of the charts and you will see that to get to #5 overall from #11 shouldnt even be talking about giving up next year's 1st rounder. #11 and #23 are MORE than enough.

The difference between the #5 overall pick and taking the 4th QB off the board and going up to the #2 spot and taking the 2nd QB are two WILDLY different things.

IMO the Vikes got the #23 just in case Washington wants to trade out. Only if we move up to the #2 spot for the Vikes should they even entertain the idea of parting with yet another pick from next year's draft. And even then I am not crazy about the idea.

It's this exact silliness as to why I figured the Vikes would do the un-creative thing and just resign Cousins. The simple fact is that money is the easiest thing to find in the NFL when assembling a roster. What is hard to find is young controllable talent because for that you need a stash of draft picks to do. And here we are going the other way on that dept.

Barnwell doesn't like the Vikings 2nd deal at all. This article provides a good breakdown of trading up or down and chances of it working. Basically you're going to win about 45% of the time trading up...which isn't really all that great...

You think McCarthy starts week 1? I think they benefit if he sits like Maye and learns the offense and starts a few games at the end of the year and let him start year 2.

Unless, Darnold really struggles the first 3-5 games.

Meh, they should trade for Kirk Cousins and actually try to win.

Kirk would never have signed a contract without a no trade clause and there's no way Charlie Church is going to move his family to Vegas. The main personal appeal for him going to Atlanta is his wife is from there.

The Fields decision could bite them more than Harris. Nobody is looking to pay big for RBs, but that cost controlled 5th year for a QB could look cheap if Fields takes over and becomes their starting QB and they then need to retain him.

Not to mention they have Warren.

It wouldn't matter if they didn't. They'll just draft someone in the 3rd round in next year's draft if they can't re-sign him cheaply enough. RBs don't command big money anymore, and even if they did he's not on that level.

Warren averaged 5.3ypc.

Harris 4.1ypc.

Harris 4.1ypc.

I know, but Warren never took over the role even with that disparity. He could be their option moving forward, but is unproven as a full time lead back. RBs are deemed replaceable in most cases these days.
