No. They don't need to pay either of them, and neither is likely to be a $25M QB in 2025. If either is then good luck to that player. The Steelers will make business decisions with whichever FA QBs are available in March 2025. They'll also consider trades and/or the Draft, much like 2024. The Steelers could possibly be the highest paying option for either Wilson or Fields, but that isn't a probable outcome. Every team is looking for a top 16 or top 10 QB and neither QB figures to be in the frame. Teams that want a new top whatever QB generally don't want their incumbent QBs to return.However, he's not an FA. He's a former 1st round pick that the Steelers traded for and likely the longer term option for them over Russell Wilson.
