IMO, i feel like we're freeing up this cap to sign Griffin, not Clowney... Clowney will probably end up going to the browns or bills...

I think at this time, I'd rather sign Griffin for less on a 2 or 3 year deal and not give Clowney 20+ million for a 1 year deal... Griffin is not chop liver... He's still a formidable DE...

I just bugging you.

Just a heads up for people here. My humor can be a pesty. So if you want to tell me "Piss off" or "Fuck off" have at it.
Not a problem TBH, I deserve to get poked for being gullible. I wanted that to be so, thus I swallowed it line and sinker. I'll be less gullible going forward.

I say we end up with both Clowney and Griffen.

And if that's the case, then I think we are set up pretty well for a much improved DL with a few assumptions that I think are reasonable:
  1. Jarran Reed bounces back to ~2018 form. Maybe not the same exact sack numbers, but general level of play is more likely to resemble that than what we saw in '19 when he's not dealing with a 6 game bust.
  2. Rasheem Green continues a decent upward trend. He was only 20 when we drafted him and will be in year 3 this coming season.
  3. LJ Collier shows why we drafted him so high a year ago after a rookie season that was pretty much a wash after pre-season injury and being behind FA bust Ziggy Ansah.
  4. Bruce Irvin remains effective as a 3rd down edge rusher as he was in '19.
On top of all that, still plenty of time to make a trade and of course draft someone in a few weeks. Let's see how things shake out before panic buying all the TP.

Sounds like a dream. Would be nothing short of fantastic if it happened, well depending on the cuts needed to sign them.

I wonder if the Seahawks are one of them

Now it makes me wonder how much we offered. Definitely less than $17m

Depends on what you've read but it could have been a 13-14mil low ball offer or 17-18mil which seems most have the Hawks pegged at.

If I was to guess at the Seahawks offer, I’d guess 14 million. I would call it realistic not low ball though. Bet he signs closer to 14 million then 21 million he was asking for.

Clayton was adamant today on 710 about 2 hours ago that the Titans are not players for Clowney because they can't make it work with the cap based on other moves they've made.

I still trust the way Schneider perceives this market on Clowney. If his asking price truly is now around $17M/yr then I'm more confident than ever we'll get something done. Even if we don't think he's quite worth that much, paying a premium to get him locked up long term is better than trying to get a "deal" on a 1 year offer.

Like your confidence, I’m more at the hoping stage. Every new signing the Seahawks make, it’s harder to create cap space needed.
