Once Ben hangs it up, it's gonna be a lean year or two. They are clearly pushing financial Armageddon for the year after he retires.

We'll see the financial bad deals, like Pouncey, all toll at the same time by design.

And then we're gonna be in position to draft Ben's true replacement the next year. But that's gonna be one incrediballs shitty season.

We've already seen a glimpse of it.

I have a feeling if the season does not go as planned, they will not invest long term into Dupree. As you mentioned many of the current contracts go away when Ben hangs it up....TJ, Bush, Fitz will be the front middle and back end anchors of the DEF when they hit their 2nd contracts. We watch the rebuild from there.

This season is it for Dupree in Pittsburgh.
As soon as Ben is done so is Tomlin and I would truly expect a fire sell similar to the Rams with any talent. The near future is looking more and more like the 80's.

I tend to agree, but not sure if they win it all....this franchise will try to squeeze another one as long as Ben is there.

Post Ben...I agree about Tomlin, fire sale?...maybe...I see them trying to build up the DEF behind TJ, Bush and Fitz.

FWIW...I don't think the Rams are throwing in the towels actually...they made a huge investment into Jalen Ramsey and now must extend him. Gurley they appear to be correcting a mistake now vs later. Cooks and Fowler were just cap space makers.

In no real order and independent of fit:

RB
D'Andre Swift
Jonathan Taylor
Clyde Edwards-Hilaire
JK Dobbins

WR
CeeDee Lamb
Jerry Jeudy
Denzel Mims
Justin Jefferson
Tee Higgins
Henry Ruggs III
Jalen Reagor
Laviska Shenault Jr.
Brandon Aiyuk
no no no on CLH that 40 time has been historically proven that guys like that do no do well in the NFL. JK dobbins been slipping a bit, i could warm to him, but again i think you can get a cam akers a bit later....unless CLH improves that 40, no thanks. Theres a billion college RB's that dominate in college but arent suited for the NFL, guys that put up yards, catch, etc.

Mims, reagor, higgins, shenaults, jefferson etc all those guys are lumped together, and some more. thats my point.. take one there, you can have one of the others a round later....two rounds later, or someone similar.....

im also not on the ruggs bandwagon....but higgins was a first rounder who tested poorly and fell. Reagor played horrible his senior year and didnt test as well as though, mims has grown due to testing great. shenault is always hurt.....i dunno i just dont see the value.....when you can find someone very similar later....

hamler and bryan edwards are to gents i would love to get, their breakout ages, and analytics have them at liek a 75% success rate....

Chase claypool, DPJ, michael pittman, Tyler Johnson Duverny all have profiles similar to mims , or jeffeson...and can be had later...and i guess again, thats my point to the depth at that position...address what you need to...if all the G/T's are gone, and only a round 5 guy is there, ok i get it, but id rather reach on a round 3 guard, than take one of the 10 graded round 2 receivers, when you know some wil slip......

am i making sense in my babble?

Yeah, I see where you are coming from. I'm not real big on 40 times with RB. CLH is quick enough to consistently break big plays. He's got the moves, the power, and the hands to be a very good NFL RB1.

The recievers... if they start falling, yeah. If they are coming off the board you aren't getting the same talent 1-2 rounds later.

but see he was quick enough in college. It has been proven time and time agian, that guys tha run that 40 time fail.......the numbers just dont lie. Plenty of guys were quick enough in college.....

Theres so many receivers, literally about 30 with top 3 round grades, they're gonna have to go like hot cakes.

just for examples.....

aj dillon was quick enough in college and a bowling ball, not ranked super high, and ran a decent 40........

look at alex barnes from k state last year, myles gaskins, quadree ollison, all top 25 in the nation rushers........quick enough for college.......

Damian harris bama the year before, and josh adams

donnel pumphrey had a 2k yard season.........brian hill, justin jackson

all great college backs, not good pros.........we just know CLH becaus he was on the national title team and in the media alot.........

Sheer curiosity........what makes CLH better than Eno Benjamin

BTW not being a dick, sheer discussion:suds:

What makes him better than Eno Benjamin? Everything pretty much. His agility, contact balance, burst, vision, etc.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. For now. When I have more time I might throw you some shade haha.

My tin foil hat says this is by design so they end up tanking the following year where the financials suck, and in the following year when it's all freed up they'll also have a top pick to grab a QB. Honestly I'll trade one sucky year if it means being set the following ones.

Colbert is beefing up the depth pieces in FA. Honestly had no idea they would be this active. Hats off to him & Khan for making all this happen.

Signed Weisnewski (sp?) to get much needed help on the OL. Replaces the depth piece, but shouldn’t be viewed as the starter.

Signed Ebron to boost the TE corps.

Signed FB D Watt to bolster the run game & ST units.

not to mention a flurry of resignings like Banner, Dangerfield & Canaday.

I'm fine with the Ebron move. Him and McDonald together has upside and they're at least not counting on him to be the starter if he flops. Adding a risky yet high reward veteran almost seems safer than relying on this weak draft class.

Ooh yeah, that's my thought too. And I am all in favor of it.

Going 6-10 set up the time of plenty we've seen for more than 15 years.

They seem to be banking on that both won't be hurt at the same time but I agree that's still rolling the dice. I'd still hope they add to the group in the draft but now this at least means they won't get caught with their pants down if they can't grab one.

Agreed. All of the signings so far say the same thing. They have pieces to bolster the depth just in case.

Bargain shopping like usual, and a little bit of gambling.

Hope this TE gamble works out better than the last one. But I think the shot at Ebron is worth taking.
