ill defend myself, but what the usual, almost standard, sequence of posts goes--- I rip on a team like the Lakers or Heat for doing something stupid-- i dunno, something dumb like the Whtieside contract or Deng or mozgov, or some stupid draft pick etc, coaching hire, or bungled coaching search, stupid trade etc. , Laker or Heat fan with pea brain and no ability to make a basketball argument takes a personal shot at me for making a post about basketball, and I then defend myself from said personal shot. Happens over and over again.

Nothing is as stupid as you. I mean nothing is as stupid as Gilbert's letter after LeBron broke your heart & went to Miami. Then when he had the nerve to leave Cleveland for a 2nd time you went from his biggest fan to biggest critic faster than it takes to dunk a basketball.

So how often do you wander around Cleveland yelling at all the locals that root for the Steelers? And how do you handle all of those Clevelanders that are Yankees fans? Oh yeah & because of all the Catholics born & raised in the city what about all the N.D. fans?

When are futures ever good value plays?
Casinos know that fans will come in and take a shot on their team even at terrible odds.
I'm sure there have been many cases where some team in the middle or even near the bottom went to the SB and/or won it all.

Eagles in 2017?

But I do agree there are probably a number of fans who take the bait on their own team.

And I never was a bus driver....I was considering it....and those jobs aren't as bad as you make them out to be. As @Cyder can attest. But, during the hiring process a friemd offered me a position As a Mamagement lead in a call center.

After my mom died I went out of my way to bury the hatchet bevause life is so short but you go out of your way to be such an asshole.

News flash for you.
Kids that grow up under the circumstances Beasley did, don't turn into WORLD CLASS athletes without a great work ethic and ambition.
How many end up rotting in jail?
His biggest fault is smoking weed?
Only person it hurt was him, and he's still doing just fine.

as someone who actually grew up in that kind of environment, you are dead-on...

ain't easy to rise above WITHOUT some kind of willpower, ethics, and goals...

No, it really isn’t.

You have a superiority complex. You think you are better because of your profession, but @DJ has more integrity in his pinky toe than you do in your whole body.
Appreciate it but I'm nothing special....like a lady friend on here says, "I'm not above getting in the mud and rolling around" referring to trolling on occasion.

Gilbert willing to spend more than Arison was also obviously an issue with LeBron. Gilbert/Griffin re-upping TT and then JR after the ship was due to a confluence of circumstances---- especially JR...but it is what it is at this point.

I read that the Cavs had interest in Clarkson and Thompson this offseason, but decided to wait - because (i) the value of the leadership that Thompson brings, (ii) other teams might be willing to give up more at the deadline for those 2 guys.

I would think, especially if the Cavs took back a bad contract, that trading say- Thompson and Clarkson- 2 guys that could absolutely be hugely helpful to a contender, could bring back a pretty nice asset. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Funny how you make excuses for LeBron when it suites you, but rip him when it doesn't.
Did Gilbert stop spending heading into last summer?
Did what you perceive as Arisons lack of spending ever hinder the Heat during the 4 seasons James was there?

Reality is, James has his own agenda and does what he wants, when he wants.
He's always honored his contracts unlike many.
Not sure why you get so butthurt when YOU don't like what choice he makes.

just out of curiosity have you been following Browns training camp at all?

They def. need to figure out the right guard situation, and the kicker situation, but holy shit does this team look ready to make some noise this year.

The offensive weapons - in just 2 short years went from the worst in the league to maybe the best in the league. I love that dorsey somehow got a 3rd round pick for Duke Johnson when the going rate for running backs on the trade market has been no where close to that.

Higgins has stepped up big time.

Its funny that the Browns did a very similar thing to the Cavs.......Sashi Brown purposefully let go of guys like Mitchell Schwartz, Alex Mack, etc....traded down in the draft multiple times, passed on guys like Watson, Wentz etc. because he knew the Browns were not ready.....

they get 2 #1 overall picks, hit on both of them......hit on the #4 overall pick they got from the Texans in Denzel Ward--- and here we are.

Steelers are always tough and, regretably, I have to admit a very well run organization...and Baltimore is always well run and well coached....but right now its clear that on paper the Browns have more talent than either of those teams.

its gonna take a lot going from on-paper to on the field to win this division, but with a leader like Baker they definitely have a shot.

Gun to my head I would bet they win the division this year which is crazy to say considering where they were at 2 years ago.
Cannot wait as football my favorite sport and it's not even close for me.

Agree I cannot think of anyone having a better WR or RB room (at least once Hunt returns) and I saw Baker ranked #10 going into the season by PFF. Can't think of another QB who might have been that high heading into year 2. Watson, maybe, but he was coming off an injury.

Cracks me up when people rip on the idea of tanking and credit the Browns where they are now....not realizing they are where they are BECAUSE they tanked and finally did what was so badly needed. A complete rebuild. Not a half ass job keeping or signing the Donte whitner's of the world to win a couple extra games and win 3-4 on the season.

Thinking Sashi and the Boys followed the Jimmy Johnson Dallas model. They just got their QB sooner so their 7 win season came a year earlier than ours. Instead of the Wentz deal they had the Walker deal.

I do like Dorsey in his role and he has done great in the draft for the most part, but in the history of the NFL I cannot think of a GM who came into a better situation....pick 1 in a QB heavy draft along with 4, 33, 35, another late 2nd, 65 AND $100+ mil in cap space.

as for kicker, I don't think as dire as many are saying. Joseph was solid for a rookie so either Dorsey sticks with him or waits out cuts and finds someone better.

19 days!!

Like Lance said....superiority complex aka mental health issues....

Deej, i'll just say it like this and then i'll leave it alone...

Wiggy ain't better than NOBODY...

the way he wants to prop himself up and look down on everyone else actually shows an INFERIORITY complex imo, not superiority...

sorry to disagree with coach on that one, but his unfounded arrogance is real easy to see...AND to pick apart...

The Browns of course traded down instead of taking Trubisky........supposedly Huge wanted to draft Malik Hooker with that 12th pick....instead, the Browns traded down, took Jabril Peppers, .....got the Texans pick.....and then that turned into the #4 overall pick.

The Browns could ahve resigned Schwartz, matched Macks contract, signed some vets, but instead, did the total rebuild, slashed the payroll to nothing, got a ton of extra draft picks, got Garrett and Baker.......traded Peppers and a pick for OBJ, drafted Chubb etc.....

they basically finally did what the Cavs did--- bottomed out, sucked terribly for a couple years--- and came out of it with 2 franchise cornerstones in Garrett and Baker, tons of cap space, a ton of talented young guys from all their extra picks etc.....

no way do the Browns have near the talent they currently have if the just drafted Carson Wentz and tried to sign a bunch of free agents and just tried to win.

heading into last summer? lol...i mean how stupid are you? he paid a ton of money last year for an awful team.

he leveraged his check book into getting multiple extra first round picks and second round picks.

I mean do you even follow the NBA outside of the Heat? The guy took on tens of millions of dollars of bad contracts like Delly, Henson, Knight, and others like Burks, Stauskas, etc. in order to get additional first and second rounders. Its why instead of having 1 first round pick in Garland they also added the other TWO first rounders and had a great draft--- and they STILL have multiple extra picks into the future.

In a year where they had no chance to do anything Gilbert purpousefully took on tens of millions of extra salary commitments to jump start the rebuild.

I mean you do you pay attention to the NBA at all? for fucksake..lol

only reason the Cavs had 3 first rounders, and have EXTRA first rounders and 2nd rounders in the future is because Gilbert said--- sure --- ill take on tens of millions in bad contracts if you give me your draft picks. Just think about that.

On the other side you have Arison giving away first rounders to save money. Could not possibly find a better illustration of an owners willingness to spend than the Heat attaching a first rounder to Harkless to SAVE MONEY while Gilbert is taking on Henson, Delly, Knight, to get EXTRA picks.

right there in your face man and you are either too ignorant to see it or just dont follow the league.

couple corrections...Trubisky was gone well before the 12th pick. Pretty sure he went top 3-5. Also heard Hue wanted Hooker but who knows. I liked that trade down as I didn't think Houston would be good the next year with either a rookie or Savage at QB. Admittedly, only reason I was right was watson got hurt.

Could have resigned Schwartz but Mack was unrestricted and was not staying under any circumstances I'm pretty sure.

All those saying they had to draft wentz just don't get it and it's the same as the Cavs. OK, draft him. Great. Now we win 5-7 games and no Garrett, Baker or Ward. don't want a teardown to clear cap space? OK...no OBJ/Landry.

If offered to go back and make any changes I wanted in Sashi's time I would not change a thing as any move could change where they are now...perhaps not for the better.

Isn't to say he did nothing wrong. Coleman pick a disaster. But, really, that's his only pick you could call a bust based on where he was taken. Sure, some mid-late rounders didn't do much but that's a crapshoot at best.

Mack was restricted but had a "poison pill" in his contract. They could have kept him but the poison pill made it prohibitively expensive with the way that Atlanta structured the deal if i remember correctly.

Yeah, the Browns have done a really nice job rebuilding in a sport where rebuilding is harder to do. Considering that, they've done it relatively quickly too.

They are going to be fun to watch for the next few years.

I hope so.

Steelers and Ravens are always so well run and well coached though. Its not going to be easy that is for sure.

Nah...Mack was signed the year prior to a transition tag. He was unrestricted the next offseason.

I also liked Sashi was not letting guys like that get to FA...he re-upped Bitonio and Kirksey well before FA.

Agree, but both of those teams seem a little more vulnerable than they've been in awhile.

Browns definitely need to show it on the field, but at least this year Browns fans can actually be optimistic about the season.

nah...I've checked it out further. You might be right. Most of these threads are just with agreeable fellas. I've gone back and found many arguments with me and no one else involved.

I'll try to be better.
Will you though?
