Getting Anthony Davis was great. But is your team better overall? Literally everyone is gone from ball to Ingram, and the other half of your picks are on the cavs.

I am not sure who is going to be better between the Cavs, Pelicans and Lakers. 1 week avatar the Cavs beat the lakers, we split the series last year lol

He wasn't sitting out the season and he was restricted. Not to mention TT more valuable to cavs than other teams so of course they'd offer him more. Never mind they had Bird Rights.

I thought Trojan said it best.....neither side got what they wanted but something they could live with. Knowing TT was willing to take less for a shorter deal would think Cavs could have gotten him for less than he wanted on a 3 year deal. If they asked for $51 mil would think they'd have taken in the $45 mil range based on them asking for $90 mil+ and taking $80 mil on 5 year deal.

But they wanted to lock him up longer knowing there'd be a huge spike in the cap.

No one would have given him a max, but my opinion is if he was a UFA someone might have agreed to his 3 year ask.

A ton of money was wasted on average guys.

Look at what Kent Bazemore got.


Allen Crabbe, Nic Batum, Deng and Mosgov.

But, that was only one of many factors that got him his deal a year early.

Correct, but LeBron got him the cherry on top of the whipped cream.
Whether it was an extra 8M or 10M, who knows, but it happened and James loved every second of it because it cost Gilbert, who he hates.

They couldn't replace Thompson because of the luxury tax.

So, it was a no-brainer that LeBron would want him and that the Cavs needed to keep him.
