With how quickly the trade happened after it first got out that it was being discussed, it certainly seems like OKC at least wasn't surprised at the request.

i think thats a tough question. If the Cavs were in like they were the few seasons before I can guarantee Kevin Love would have come back earlier--- whether that would have been a risk with its own ups and downs compared to giving him plenty of time to get healthy is an interesting analysis.

I think it's an easy Q...of course they held guys out longer than they needed to. No doubt Love comes back sooner if they wanted to win.

Kawhi and his people made it clear that they wanted everything they spoke about in meetings kept utterly silent.

There was a lot of talk about the Lakers. Magic made a couple vague public comments about a conversation with Uncle Dennis. There were many reports that the Lakers were confident about landing Kawhi.

There was a lot of reporting around Toronto, but most of that was around Kawhi’s movements and the crazy canadiens stalking him. That surely did not help.

You know which team was most private?

The Clippers.

Because, Paul George has intimated both in the past.

But, both those guys are like me.

We became Clippers fans out of necessity.

When I was younger, there was no path to go to multiple Lakers games per year.

But, Clippers tix were sometimes free.

My whole family could go.

Once I was old enough and financially able to buy them for myself, why would I change loyalties?

I sort of agree. AD never had to request a trade IMO. All he had to do was not accept the new contract the pelicans would offer then the writing would be on the wall. The AD situation was bad because not only he demanded a trade but he demanded a trade to one particular team which tied up the hands of the Pelicans
