It could....it could also warn his team better get something than lose him in FA.
Not really especially in places like New Orleans and OKC where it is hard to attract free agents.

Basically this
I would hope they were.......like LA did once they were out of it.
I sort of agree. AD never had to request a trade IMO. All he had to do was not accept the new contract the pelicans would offer then the writing would be on the wall. The AD situation was bad because not only he demanded a trade but he demanded a trade to one particular team which tied up the hands of the Pelicans
There is speculation that the Lakers were a legitimate possibility until Magic’s big mouth ruined it.
Kawhi and his people made it clear that they wanted everything they spoke about in meetings kept utterly silent.
There was a lot of talk about the Lakers. Magic made a couple vague public comments about a conversation with Uncle Dennis. There were many reports that the Lakers were confident about landing Kawhi.
There was a lot of reporting around Toronto, but most of that was around Kawhi’s movements and the crazy canadiens stalking him. That surely did not help.
You know which team was most private?
The Clippers.
He gave them more than one option for teams he would re-sign with. Lakers, Bucks, Knicks, were there more?

And he also prevented them from trading to him to a team that could have provided a great package and probably had more players that they wanted
Teams are quite aware of when their players will become FA.
Reaching to say they need to warned.
They could've traded him anywhere (a la Paul George and Kawhi Leonard). Both of those players wanted LA specifically and were traded elsewhere with a year left on their contracts.
If Kerr wanted to wet the bed over a trade demand, it should've been PG's urgent second one in 3 years.

Why would Boston trade for him if reports came out 2 different times that he will not resign with them?
Pels were STILL trying to convince AD to stay before finally trading him this summer, regardless of what he continued to tell them.
Not really.
It was apparent he wanted Lakers from the moment he signed with Klutch.
Point is?
They knew the situation.
Of course try to see if his mind could be changed.
Really. Knicks fans are still holding out hope they can convince him next summer.
Point is, if the team refuses to believe he would leave, they need a push.
To win a championship, just like Toronto? To try to sway his intentions, just like OKC?
I'm not buying that speculation. The simple fact that Kawhi wanted a star to bring with him to the Clips or to return to Toronto when he had a far better star in AD already on the Lakers, yet those two teams were still in consideration speaks volumes. The Lakers were strung along as a fall back safety team at best.
If Kawhi didn't know Magic's tendencies, requested a meeting with the FORMER Laker front office person, then held that proclivity to talk against the CURRENT Laker front office, then he was just looking for an excuse. Why did he want the meetings kept utterly silent? So that he could string along two teams while trying to get his running mate to the Clips.
