You do realize that the season we ended up sucking was due to Alonzo Mourning's kidney disease, yes? We were forced into that situation as we were geared to make a title run, until Zo went down.
Um, that's Toronto Raptor LEGEND Alonzo Mourning.

trading for Shaq put you over the top to contend for a title

trading for Jimmy Butler gives you an extra handful of wins and the same 1st round ass beating youd have received anyway.

Jimmy Butler also gives Miami a star who was an upgrade from Josh Richardson. Stars attract other stars. Sorry that I like my team continuing to try and improve while you want your team to suck until it can catch lightning in a bottle.

Your point is silly.

We all knew that.

The Heat future plans is pretty obvious.

They were never trying to become title contenders for this season or next.

Once again, they have a plan in place.
if the future plan is using a 32 year old Jimmy Butler making almost 40M a year to attract another player that will all of a sudden make the Heat contenders you are going to be seriously, seriously disappointed.

Yep exactly. It is pretty obvious the Heat are trying to land another star player in 2021 to team up with Butler.

to team up with a 32 year old Jimmy Butler, who already has a consensus ton of miles on him, and is an assclown to begin with. Great plan.

thats a MUCH better plan than trying to get 2 guys like the Nets just did with a ton of cap space and a ton of good young players and getting guys that are actually in their primes.

Counting on a 32 year old player to be a big time recruiter, esp. one with miles like Butler, and committing such a huge portion of the cap to him is really really dumb. Maybe he is still good, but there is no doubt he will not be nearly as good as he was in his age 29 season, where him, Simmons and Embiid could not even get it done.

3 more years of wear and tear, esp. 3 years of not playing with anyone NEAR as good as Towns, Embiid, etc. will do wonders for him.

So Butler going to fall off a cliff this year and next basically?

Impossible to be a really good player still at 32

And for the record, he will be 31 during the free agency of 2021....not 32

You really need to quit acting like 31/32 is the same as being 36/37.

You know how many players in the league is/was at the top of their name at age 31 or 32? The list is extremely long.

A guy entering his 11th season in 2021 can no longer be good is pretty much what you're telling me? LMFAO

He keeps talking about Thibs miles; Even though Jimmy Butler played regular starter minutes for 6 years in Chicago through Minnesota and never made it past the 2nd round. But......THIBS MILES!!!!!!

All of what miles?

He started 20 out of 124 games in his first 2 seasons

After that, the only years that his MPG were ridiculous was in 2014 and 2015. Otherwise, he got traditional top players MPG.

Also, the Bulls only got of round 1 2X.

You're acting like he is Lebron James and made it to 8 straight finals or something

@dtgold88 when you start talking about misinformation, you may also want to look at your boy, Wiggy with the side eye.

Butler avg 8 MPG and played 42 games in year 1. Started 20 games and avg 26 MPG in year 2. He played really heavy minutes in Chicago 2 seasons. The other years his minutes were normal for a top player during those days.

Most top players were avg between 35-37 MPG

Let's breakdown Butlers minutes from his time in Chicago and check out what other players avg similar minutes in those years.

2013-2014: Butler avg 38.7 MPG. Carmelo, Durant, DeRozan, LBJ, and Harden all avg 38+ MPG that year.

2014-2015: Butler avg 38.7 MPG. Wall, AD, Bron, Wiggins, Kyrie, and Harden were all at 36+ MPG that year.

2015-2016: Butler avg 36.9 MPG (both Lowry and Harden avg more) Dame, KD, Lebron, Kemba, AD, Wall, and Hayward avg about 36 MPG that year.

2016-2017: Butler avg 37 MPG. Towns avg the same MPG. Wiggins, Lowry, and Bron all avg more MPG than Butler. Harden, Wall, AD, Lillard, PG, and Giannis all avg around 36 MPG that year.

2017-2018: Butler avg 36.7 MPG (same as Giannis). Bron avg more. CJ, Jrue, Beal, Wiggins, AD, Towns, PG, and Russ were all at 36+ MPG

2018-2019: Butler avg 33.6 MPG. There were 26 players this year who avg more MPG than Butler.

So basically outside of 2014-2015 season, Butler minutes (AS I STATED PREVIOUSLY) was pretty much the same MPG other top players were getting.

I want you to see they drafted him becauseguess what? THEY FUCKING DRAFTED HIM!!!! LOL

they sucked, got ttop #5 pick, and drafted a guy to build around.

If that guy was not inMiami, that guy that they DRAFTED, they would have never been in position to TRADE for Shaq.

If Wade wasnt DRAFTED by Miami to attract Lebron, LeBron NEVER GOES THERE.

Wade is the whole key to the only success they have ever had in their whole fucking history and its because they sucked and drafted him!!!!!!!

And yet still,

That is not the only way for a franchise like Miami, or LA or Houston or NY/Brooklyn to build a competitive roster.

Brooklyn has done it with 0 high picks of their own. Toronto just won a title with 0 lotto picks on their roster.

You can deflect all you want, but my assessment is spot on.

Yes...was explained incorrectly. Even by Heat fans. He was not on the books last year nor in the 2017-18 season according to Spotrac.

as is often the case, no one would admit their error.

Miami Heat 2017-18 Salary Cap

I posted he was on the books for 2 seasons when he couldn’t play.
No mistake to admit to.

OK, but most said this pointing to Bosh being on the roster up until the end of the most recent season. Bosh has not been on the payroll since the 2016-17 season. How long can we allow The Great Riley to use this as an excuse? This will be year 3 without him and they are still no more than what seems like a middling playoff team with what appears to be no shot to scare anyone in the East.

and this is in a FA hotbed and a stud who wanted to play in Miami.

Find any post, where anyone said that about Bosh.
We said we felt that there was no reason to go into tank mode, but Bosh illness ruined the opportunity for us to see how we would have done.

Um, KD is the same age as Butler and won't be playing until he's 32. And has just as much miles on him
