Bullshit internet rumor but for the sake of discussion, would you trade first overall to Vancouver for Petterson/Boeser, this year's first (#10 overall) and next year's pick?

Draft is in Vancouver so they may want to make a splash and they have Quinn Hughes.

Also, would you make a move for PK Subban? Nashville is almost maxed out on cap, if they want to make moves to win now they need to add salary, Subban seems like the obvious salary dump choice ($9 million per for 3 more years). It would be ages 30-32.
Was it an E4?

I like Kakko a lot and more after this tournament, but, I still say Hughes. Devils cannot pass him up.
Same reasons you guys mentioned.
What happened to Cup? Hope he is doing okay.

Hall-Nico-(New Guy? Eberle?)
Zacha-Hughes-Palmieri
Bratt-Zajac-Coleman
Wood-McLeod-Bastian?

Vatanen-(New guy? Trouba?)
Smith-Severson
Greene-Butcher

Is this a contender (assuming the goaltending is respectable)?

Defense you could shuffle if you want a Lefty/Righty balance.

Stay healthy and we are at least back in playoffs with that lineup, assuming goaltending isn't total tank job

I would love for us to aim higher and go nuts but I'm trying to be realistic.

Isles give Brock Nelson $6 million per, Lou still doesn't understand cap allocation.

Either player would be great. I really think Hughes is the safer pick and agree with previous poster that he can develop even more. Let Vancouver trade with NYR and this team can stay with the top selection.

Was just looking at our cap and the Cammalleri buyout still counts $1.67 million per for the next 2 seasons. While that's nothing crazy that's still $1.67 that can be added to someone's deal. Hey we were going to pay Hall $9 per? Make it $10.67 per.

Reason you go with Hughes is he is that generational player type. Kakko is a great skater, who is built for the NHL now. Hughes might not have the NHL build yet, but he is an Elite skater with what looks like the higher ceiling.

That's the big thing to me is the consensus is Kakko is done growing, he's already a man. Hughes still has room to grow/fill out. The fact Hughes probably already has the edge and isn't done just yet makes me think he's the no brainier long term pick.

2 things, 1, based on last year's playoff series and now watching the 2 teams in the finals, man we need to get some size/physicality on this team.

2, the more I think about it the more I would be ok with taking on Callahan's contract. Take the hit for one season, take whatever bonus they throw in, pick or player, we could absolutely use his leadership with such a young team and he's off the books next year when guys need to get paid.

I hope Hall remains a Devil... shouldn't use last season as an overreaction per say.... the previous year there was good play that eventually fizzled out....

Two offensive weapons in Hughes/Kakko and a FA should be enough to stir Hall back here. As well as an improved Nico for whom I want to see a bigger impact into yr 3

If Hall is sincere in wanting to play for a contender don't the Devils make sense long term?

What contender can afford a long term $10+ million contract?

Nico/Hughes down the middle is a pretty good base to build around/play with for the duration of his next deal.

In teeteof getting paid and long term potential I think you could argue with the Devils versus most teams.

Good point on the contender part.
I guess what we don't know is whether he wants to be in NJ or does he want to be out west, or in Canada.
I do think that if there is any indication that he does not want sign long term, Shero has to pull the trigger and trade him before the deadline.

Devils make sense, of course the team(and COACHES) need to improve but he'll have help. FA this will definitely be huge, so if he sees some solid skillful additions, that should be enough to show him(and the fans) that the Devils are comitted to winning this season.

Another thing for Hall to consider is to look at John Tavares... he jumped ship and ended up nowhere for it.... his new super team fell short while his old team was one the best teams in the first rd advancing to the 2nd.
