Listen I'm not thrilled with this contract either. If this is the market what can we do. He's not a bad player that's what that's on forward you can play defensively which is a key for this team and he has size and has size and Grit. All I'm saying is let's let the rest of the offseason play out and see where we're at once we start playing in October
You keep mentioning the market value...how do you know what the value is when you SET the value yourself? No one was bidding against the flyers at this point and (as they always friggin do) decided to just blow the guy away instead of seeing where the numbers would shake out. my comments earlier in week about homer dejavu is why I am worried. those days we were constantly operating in contract negotiations on the weaker side. we always had to move salary to acquire better salary, hence bad value on trades. we never had talent in the pipelines so we have to overpay free agents. its just a history of this for the last 20 years i don't understand how the fans of our team sit here and take this like "trust them it will be fine". IT HAS NOT BEEN FINE FOR A LONG TIME.

I've been reading that Hartman is going to get $2.5 do we sign him for that much or let him go and add from within the organization for cheap.

That was already figured into the cap space. With the salary retention and the above we have $2,400,000.

I still don't understand $2,500,000 for him. Offer $1,500,000 or let him walk. He is 4th line at best.

How many years are left with Giroux and Voracek realistically at the core of a Cup winner ?

How many teams will be bidding on Duchesne? Do you guy's really believe that Philly was his top choice and he wasn't considering someone else? Word is Trouba said New York is the only place he'd resign and would sit until December. How are these viable options. Should the GM just sit there and do nothing if he has no chance of signing either one? What about some of the younger players perhaps they improve and another makes the team this year like Frost. Lots of unknowns but if the Blues can win a cup so can Philly...

And if those young kids turn into studs, guess what? You have no money to pay them and they go to other teams, that's the Flyer way.

Also nobody was coveting Hayes that hard either, was a bone head move by Fletcher.
