Its so nice to see all of our forwards come down below the top of the circle in our defensive zone. that makes for a solid defensive team effort.
Well teapot still has a problem with that but why he's on the third line.

These stinky starts are too frequent. Maybe for warm up they should play a 20 minute running clock scrimmage. Maybe they would be ready for the first period?

I hope they get all the bad first periods out now and play a full 60 in the playoffs.

Does anyone know what Hayes was doing on his celebration last night? Was he doing the discount double check belt sign?

Watching the tape originally, Konecny appeared to clearly state "Fuck you, Savard!!"

Gotta love it. We completely dominated that overtime frame. How many odd-man rushes or prime scoring chances did we have before Hayes finally took advantage of a terrible gaffe defensively and rifled one home? I thought for sure it was over when Couturier had the puck on his stick right in the slot, briefly wide open. Instead, he unselfishly went for the pass, but definitely should've pulled the trigger.

Either way, Columbus poured everything they had into this game and it wasn't enough. We still appeared to just come from behind on them at will, almost toying with them at times. Our skill really shines in the overtime and also their lack of skill.

I also think the nastier and more physical the game got, the better we played. This bodes well for us in a potential long playoff series later on.

The division title is definitely there for the taking right now as well. The Caps and Pens both lost last night and Washington has been sinking for awhile. We are 20-5-4 on home ice and 9 of our next 12 games are in Philly. We're also 25-9-5 vs. the East, but will have to put away a few teams from the West as well to stay in the mix.

With us needing some forward depth what are our best options to do something this weekend?

It's a good question.

Can always use depth, but I'm not interested in throwing players/picks at getting someone.
We should be aggressive, but not desperate.

If we can acquire some offense by giving up a pick or two, I'm all for it.

I don't think anything happens this weekend, but I do expect a flurry of activity on Monday.

Real nice win last night. Myers was a beast. The Sanheim/Myers pairing in general looked great. If they can establish some consistency at that level, the Flyers are going to be a real tough out in the playoffs. What a joy it is to have two 23 year old dmen that are 6-4+, can skate like the wind, and move the puck with confidence and ease. And one of them is even RH. And they're only the 2nd pair.
