That's a tough closing stretch and the Pistons get the Knicks, Grizzly and Charlotte. Gotta think Detroit gets at least one of those which means Miami would have to sweep their final three to pass them

Yeah im not worried about Detroit. Feels like them and Orlando are in. Passing Brooklyn is the only path to the playoffs for Miami

His reasoning is so trash.

He wouldn't have 5 or 6 rings if he played with shaq (not in his prime) and Lebron

Ridiculous statement

I listened to the audio now. It sounds to me like a bit of sour grapes he was surrounded by mediocrity for the most part when he was in his 20s. I'm reading between the lines a little.

Their team in the early 2000s weren't complete trash. They did win a playoff series or two.

I agree.

But I also understand his mindset.

Good thing for you is they may avoid philly. Lose to Charlotte and hope Brooklyn win 1 of their final 2.

I honestly half ass think they did it on purpose with sitting Blake

Dangerous game

Go back the last 4 drafts, top 5 picks for teams that had their picks and you have:

Phoenix 3x
Sac 2x
Atl 1x
Memphis 1x
Dallas 1x
Philly 3x (but we all know what it took to achieve whatever they have achieved)
Lakers 3x
Magic 2x
MN. 2x
NY 1x
N.O. 1x
Suns def are going to be good within the next year or two and be set up for the long term- esp. if they get Zion or Morant.

When you draft 19 and 20 year olds you dont get good over night even if you have multiple high picks...its takes a few years to get the guys and then some time to actually develop them.

What is “good”?

My point is, you gotta really suck to get the high draft picks.
Then you need multiple.
Then you need to hope the picks were good ones.
Then you have to wait the years to develop them.

So, how often does that process lead to championship?

Not very often.

But in all honesty, neither does any other approach.

Because only 1 out of 30 wins a championship each year. And in the NBA especially, teams tend to win them in bunches.

Barkley thought he was the best player in the world.

You have to be irrationally confident to perform as well as Pierce did in the NBA.

It isn't true, but of course he believes that. And he should.

But he's long gone from playing. He can be objective now. Otherwise he's just another Lavar "I could beat MJ one on one" Ball idiot.

Totally agree.
Thats why I feel at the end of the day the 100,000 words @WiggyRuss writes about how sucking is the way to go, just doesn’t fly.

Especially if you are in a market like the Heat that can attract stars if the conditions are right.

You are right about Miami.

For most of us though, you have to build through the draft first to give yourself a chance.

Cmon now.

Wade is better than Pierce.

But Pierce was a very good NBA player. Lavar wasn't even a has been. He is a never was.

I was exaggerating for effect, my point is Pierce can stop with the irrational self regard now, he's done playing

Yah good luck with that....no one is coming to Miami to play with Justice Winslow and Josh Richardson.

and even if they wanted to- they couldnt since Riley fucked your payroll up for multiple years with his stupidity.

Apparently, getting a #9 seed is better than tanking and getting high picks/young players. No guarantee either way but tanking is by far the greater option

I love how it's "tanking", like they are losing on purpose.
Just say 'we suck, but I'm ok with it because A: I don't have a choice and B: because its our only hope to ever get talented players'.

As far as it being prudent plan, how about don't post as it is until they actually achieve something?

You should petition Gilbert to change the name from Cavaliers to Hopefullynextiers.
