Keep thinking how hard it would be to endure meltdowns Tribe had and now the Nats had just now with Max S on mound. Ground balls bloops GB down the line WP HBP catcher error on strike out. Tough tough tough

Here is a link to an interesting story about the ineptness of the White Sox this year. Derek Holland led the team in wins with 7 and in innings pitches with 135. Actually Derek tied with Miguel Gonzalez for wins. Those are the fewest wins and innings pitched to ever lead the Sox in any year. Even in strike shortened years.

2017 White Sox pitching leaders in historical context

i don't think Profar has a future with the Rangers so i was wondering if we could trade him + a prospect or 2 for one of the Marlins outfielders not named Stanton. rumors are that they are looking to unload potentially expensive players like Yelich and Ozuna to reduce payroll this coming season and over the next 2 or 3 seasons.

That seems like the way to go, but we will be in the same boat not wanting to appear to be rebuilding again so I wouldn't be surprised to see us pick up that option. It wouldn't even surprise me to see them announce that in ST 2018 along with announcing an extension of Beltre.
only if they bring in 1 or 2 quality pitchers for 2018 and beyond. anything else and Beltre will be asking for permission to find a contender that will trade for him

I agree with ya on this one too. But keep in mind, if you trade Hamels that may be the end of our relationship with Mr Beltre.

But again, I agree with ya, and I think moving Adrian might be the best thing for all parties at this point anyway.
well if we trade Hamels and continue our policy of signing medical rehabs to 1 year contracts i strongly believe that Beltre will be wearing some other team's uniform in 2018. and we will fighting the A's for the West basement

So which came first, chicken or the egg? Spend a fortune on pitchers and wait 2-3 yrs for offense to mature or tap the brake a little on spending and be patient? Hard to ever know imo.
be patient and wait for what?

You wouldn't understand.
try me or can you only insult. i understand we have a couple or more pitching prospects that could possibly be good #3 or #4's but there is no guarantee that. probably our best prospects are all positional players like Taveras, Calhoun, Guzman & Trevino to name a few but pitching is now and in the near future our achilles heel and needs to addressed now. but i'm open to any positive movement

I am wondering if you commented on the wrong post. The post of mine that you quoted doesn't seem to fit with your response. I was indicating that I think they will pick up Hamels' option in my post.

I don't know that we have a prospect or two that would interest Miami in trading us one of those two players. I think my idea of trading Odor for a minor-leaguer who projects to be a #3 starting pitcher would be a lot more doable trade than the heist you are suggesting.

I think it is the whole idea of realizing we may have to wait until we can be serious competitors for the WS again. We just have too many holes to be serious contenders next season. We might be able to acquire a lot of the pitching we need this offseason IF everything beaks right, but we are going to have to wait on our offense to mature.

JD will never let that happen.

It would be a prudent way to go though if JD and ownership could ever be convinced to go in that direction.

perhaps it will take a couple of years but the biggest hole is the starting rotation and that would be the logical place to start. should have started on it before now but we didn't and now we are paying for it. the offense is 10X closer than the pitching. sign a couple of quality starters to multiple year deals to build around

Got to be patient but seems some don't understand that.

Ok our hitters are likely not going to be as good as the Astros next year unless our young guys make huge jumps. But if we come how come up with good pitching then we could compete. Plus we may have a CF on the radar. We need to be better defensively. So yes there are glaring holes but let us wee how the offseason and ST progresses before we are considered non contenders.

I still think the best team often does not win the WS and sometimes match ups make the difference. The breaks went the way of the Yanks and they are now in ALCS. They are clearly not the best team but you never know.
