Irving is a special telent as 29.4 points, 4.4 assists and 4.0 rebounds on 47 FG%, 90% on FT's, and 42% on 3's in 2017 NBA Finals attest.

if only he could defend worth a damn. but i guess you never know. Brad Stevens maybe helps him on that side of the ball...?

Not shocking. This happens all of the time and Palinka was an agent right before getting into this position. The punishment basically fits the "crime".

Jeannie Buss:" ok, i'll talk with Magic and make sure this never happens again. now which shoe do you want that half mil from"...?

Yea, it's fully what I expected. No reason to hit them any harder than that.

I'm a little surprised by the fine, but it happened and now it's time to move on.

Hey it could have been worse. The NBA could have forced the organization to put Jimmy short Buss back in charge.:heh:

If they get Paul George, its easily worth it.

Wrist = Slapped
The penalty came as a result of Lakers GM Rob Pelinka making contact with Paul George's agent "that constituted a prohibited expression of interest in the player while he was under contract."

Aren't teams allowed to show "interest in a player while he was under contract", by way of a trade talk? Didn't GM Rob Pelikan try to trade for Paul George during the trade period?

Not to an agent. You can engange with other front offices and let them know that you're looking to acquire them in a trade.

Talking to an agent and letting them know you're interested has an implied context of signing them to a contract.

Thanks for the info, but I thought all player agents, were involved in any trade talks.

Sure, but the communication to the agent should come from the front office of the team they are under contract with.

A team can give permission to a potential trade partner to talk to their player/agent, if they want to gauge interest or something.

I'm assuming whatever evidence the league found didn't point to that type of a situation, though.

Would you have an issue w/ the fine if it was the Celtics instead of the Lakers?

Yes. PG had made it clear where he has wanted to go, Los Angeles. If it were Boston, I'd feel the same. Magic was laughing and smiling, kidding around. I just think it's a bit extreme. But, it's not like it's going to hurt the Lakers. The actual amount is chump change to them.

Come on DJ don't be so homeristic.:D It doesn't matter what George said. Magic shouldn't have said anything in the 1st place to put the organization in a situation where they could get hit w/ a fine.

Although that's just my Celtics homerism talking a little shit right now. I think the fine's absurd.

Total BS by the League....

It's something that every team likely does. Lakers just got caught. And being fined $500k is a drop in the bucket for the Lakers. Not a big deal.
