Guess this means the end of Ian Clark? @CitySushi @msgkings322

I think Ian was long gone before the season ended. I think Ian will get a nice 3 year deal somewhere, something the Warriors were likely not to commit to. With the luxury tax situation creeping up, the Warriors I think were looking to do a lot of short term deals to keep some financial flexibility. Both Swaggy and Casspi signed to 1 year deals. McCaw is actually a free agent after the year too, only signing a 2 year deal on his rookie contract.

Agreed -- but Gobert is better than anyone on the Celtics . . . so I could see why he'd be personally upset about Hayward leaving. The problem with Utah is that they don't offer a vision for the future, which I'm sure helped sway Hayward to Boston. Utah's future is Gobert/Hayward and probably overpaying or losing Rodney Hood and Dante Exum next offseason. Boston's possibilities are virtually endless.

Hayward would have literally been the 6th best SF in the West had he resigned. In Boston, he is likely to start the all star game. I agree Gobert is better than any one player on Boston's roster, but man those assets can be packed to get someone much much better.

Also, the Celtics are clearly the 2nd best team in their conference. Utah would not have been a lock to make the playoffs next year with everyone else making improvements.

Doesn't the Warriors have a team option for McCaw though? I know Miami had one with Richardson this year who was on a 2 year contract?

If they don't, then he gone! Somebody will pay him more then the warriors can afford to.

I don't think so. It was a straight 2 year, guaranteed contract for the minimum I think. No options. I think Myers signed Swaggy and Casspi to push McCaw further back on the bench, pushing back his value so that he can be resigned at a much more cap friendly figure next year.

Well I know Miami had guaranteed Richardson contract for his 3rd year back in June which makes him eligible for a 4 yr extension. I'm assuming the Dubs can do the same since both were 2nd round picks. Could be wrong though

I tried typing in McCaw's salary for next year. Don't know if this is correct or anything about the site hoopshype.com but it says McCaw's set to make 1.3m.

You don't think someone will pay him anyway after next year?

Young is a very good shooter but has always been streaking. Is he worth $18.5 mil over with that penalty?

Hmmm, I just checked hoopshype too and it didn't have anything listed. Usually it would also list options and/or QO's.
