Melo on the Nets? He could still be in NY and close to his kid and give them some scoring....they have space to absorb his contract.
Agree.

But, he's at the stage in his career where he should realize he has to be the one to bend.

*See everything in @bksballer89 post and add in the fact that this is the last Season on his contract. They can go their separate ways if it doesn't work out.

If they whiff on Hayward, Ibaka, Milsap...there isn't another guy out their that can move the needle in their favor in a matchup with the Cavs. They'd be close with Melo.

Smartest man on SportsHoopla.

Melo has 2 years left, if you count his player option and I can't see him turning that down.

No.

They will remain middle of the pack, 6th, 7th, 8th seed.

That's not good.

They should explore Rondo for a 1 year deal.....I can't see running the offense through Rivers and BG. Rondo would help BG achieve crazy numbers.

No.

They will remain middle of the pack, 6th, 7th, 8th seed.

That's not good.

They made the playoffs like what? 7 times before CP got there? CP helped them make the playoffs 6 times in his tenure there. I say make the playoffs as long as you can before doing a total blowup, especially since you're the Clippers.

I get exactly what you're saying. If this was a one-time occurrence with Ainge, then I'd typically agree with you.

But we've seen what appears to be a repetitive theme with Ainge when it comes to making a move for an all star caliber player that just about every major news outlet makes mention of it.

This is why I question how accurate those reports are on what was offered. Remember, Minnesota essentially robbed Chicago of Butler while Boston could've thrown in more assets. I understand not wanting to throw all of your assets on the table. But I would imagine that some GMs probably see Ainge trying to get the better end of the deal to the point it's ridiculous; or maybe he's just an asshole to deal with.
Reports: Pacers passed on better Paul George trade offers from Celtics, Cavs

It's purely speculation.

"It's hard to not take deals involving Boston with a grain of salt these days, because every time the Celtics miss out on a trade a report later comes out that they offered the world in the reported deal they missed out on. That said, if Boston truly did offer this then there's no conceivable way to defend Indiana for passing on these deals. All of them are better than what George received."

Having said that, this is the same franchise that fired Vogel and replaced him with McMillan. So I could see Indy not allowing George to be traded to Cleveland or Boston, just to spite him.

Again though, it appears to be a constant theme now with Ainge. Something's not right there with him whether it's his approach, closing on deals/trades, etc..

Damn, I didn't realize Lopez turned himself into a 3-point shooter last season....we might just keep him on a short team friendly deal next summer.

Harden and Cp3 will have the same issue unless someone bends.

Melo needs to bend.

I think they won't play them a lot at the same time.....they'll always have a PG on the floor when the other is resting. And CP should probably play no more than 30-33mpg......but when they are on the court at crunch time they'll have to figure it out.

Dislike Lebron, but have to give it up to him in terms of recognizing what elite players are worth.

There are reports going around that Boston offered those deals at the trade deadline, as opposed to not offering as much in recent months

According to an article on ESPN, NBA league office sources confirmed that the celts offered way more than this recently.

Wow. NY and Houston are talking a Melo deal......some local reporter in NY. That would be awkward with 3 guys needing the ball.
