These super stacked teams are just crazy.....I remember the 1980's when you just played the game and made your team-mates better. Not sure I like this era that much.

It's purely speculation.

"It's hard to not take deals involving Boston with a grain of salt these days, because every time the Celtics miss out on a trade a report later comes out that they offered the world in the reported deal they missed out on. That said, if Boston truly did offer this then there's no conceivable way to defend Indiana for passing on these deals. All of them are better than what George received."

Having said that, this is the same franchise that fired Vogel and replaced him with McMillan. So I could see Indy not allowing George to be traded to Cleveland or Boston, just to spite him.

Again though, it appears to be a constant theme now with Ainge. Something's not right there with him whether it's his approach, closing on deals/trades, etc..
You say "pure speculation"... and, of course, I can't offer you any 100% evidence in this thread just like the writer of that article can't offer you 100% evidence... but it certainly seems to be the case that Indy passed over better offers at multiple points. These aren't just stories coming out after the fact... there were whispers and rumblings of deals for PG's many times in the past many months.

And I'll call attention to the fact that it wasn't just Boston reportedly offering better deals. It was the Lakers. It was Portland. It was Atlanta. It was the Cav's.

^ Are all of these potential deals lies and innuendo? Sure, it's possible... but it's not likely. With all that smoke from so many different teams... it's hard not to come to the conclusion that the Indy braintrust screwed the pooch on this one.

Melo on the Nets? He could still be in NY and close to his kid and give them some scoring....they have space to absorb his contract.

Melo has 2 years left, if you count his player option and I can't see him turning that down.
Didn't know he had an option.

Good info.

@Shaggy.....just curious about this. The PF has a useful thing on the ratings......it would be cool if we can add that to other places on tHoop. And let me know when I can buy 5-6k SportsHoopla cash. I can't wait till my annual dues to get another 2k in March....college and pro football are right around the freaking corner. I'll give you $40-50 for 5-6k.

Yeah there were no stacked teams in the 80s. And no one makes their teammates better today. :L
