Actually there have been for next year (the Lakers seem pretty intent on not going big game hunting this offseason and saving cap space for 2018).

Of course, it's all speculation and rumor right now because it's about 2018 FA. But for the first time in about 4 years, those rumors and speculation are about players that actually may seriously consider the Lakers rather than players the Lakers will target and have no chance of getting.

I'd say that Paul George telling the Pacers that he is leaving and prefers to go to the Lakers is pretty "real" as well.
IDK man, word is that Oklahoma City is getting a new Super Target sometime early next year. I don't see how LA can compete with that.

Fine... then by what's reported, Ainge made a much better offer to Indy. And Indy decided to go a lesser route.

How is that on Ainge and the C's?

Literally every other reported offer that the Pacers got was better than what they accepted from OKC. If I'm a Pacer fan, I be like:

Reading that there is a possibility PG stays in OKC and I'd be okay with that......lot of other FA's next summer and LA is now a destination for other FA's to consider.....assuming we show progress and win some games.....

1-Why do I say this? Magic has a great personality and more charisma than Kupcake.....I can imagine some FA's falling asleep during one of his presentations.....

2-Ball. He's a pass first PG who will get others involved.....not a shoot first PG or combo guard who will look to get his first.....and yes, I know this is before he plays a game.....but I don't think he's gonna be a bust.

3-It's LA. Sure, there are taxes and all but there all countless marketing opportunities the player's agent can find for them. Just look at how we are inundated with those Kia commercials with that soul-less ginger across the way in the other locker room.

I haven't been this excited to be a Laker fan in a long time......let's get it!!!!!

PS: Come out and play @WiggyRuss!!!!

Certainly not ideal...but if he's coming off the bench, meh i guess

I'm good with it. He played well until he got hurt last year and he's good defensively. Exactly the kind of player the Lakers said they wanted to look for on 1 year deals.

Prtchard didn't want to contribute to Boston turning into the next dynasty and sent him to another small city and non-contender.......LOL.

Magic better not sign Rondo......CL67 and I may have to pull another disappearance of the Short Buss over the Santa Monica PIer at 2am again.

I know that a year is a long time and a lot can change. But Indy just sent him to virtually the same situation that he wanted out of.

Small city team that is good enough to make the playoffs, but not good enough to contend.

Oh, man....

Did George agree to an extension?

Because if he bolts after the year, I can't imagine what this would do to OKC fans.

Hope they have a great year and this was about as good a replacement as you could hope for.

They didn't give up much and got rid of a horrible contract.

If they do, it'll likely be on a 1 year deal.

They said they wanted to target vets on 1 year deals who can shoot outside or play defense and mentor the kids. He fits that role defensively.

Not that I've heard. The article I read mentioned the Thunder getting his Bird rights and being able to offer him more than anyone else next year. Didn't say anything about him signing an extension.

Exactly. I could see him being a pretty good mentor for Lonzo. Rondo is a pass first like Lonzo and plays defense. If all he does is teach Lonzo how to play solid NBA level defense, he's worth it.

And as you point out, if he gets pouty or whatever, cut him loose.

Now way! He was the best player in the league towards the end of the year last year. In fact, Boston never beats Chicago in the playoffs had he not gone down!!!

Surprised you didn't know that.
