Any word about D. Smelter? Will he ever see the field for SF?

just another wasted IR draft pick, add him to this zero value heap:
1. Joe Looney
2. Tank Carradine
3. Marcus Lattimore
4. Brandon Thomas
5. DeAndre Smelter

Ok, Smelter isn't quite done yet, but there are no signs of him emerging. His draft status is saving him now. Same as these other guys, we kept them longer due to draft status.

Yeah ok, Carradine is NOW showing signs of value. Nothing guaranteed mind you, but some signs of value. If you look at his overall picture, would you still draft him in Round 2, back in 2013? He is entering his 4th season now.

To be clear, i was ok with this theory four years ago. But four years later the proof is clear, this doesn't work and it ain't even close.

I can understand someone might slip down due to injury, but don't do it again in Round 4 or earlier.

Overall it doesnt matter because look at the healthy WR we drafted this year. Kid might not even make the team. Baalke just sucks at drafting WR's.

I don't get how we cut Rush and keep Wilhoite. Makes no sense.

Rush won't make it to the PS squad. He played well enough to garner some interest. We kept Wilholte and dumped Rush.

He made some splash plays, but was horrible against the run, and contributed little if any on Special Teams. I do think he should've made the team however, starting off with 3rd down pass rushing, given guys like Tony Jerod-Eddie and Michael Wilhoite are still 49ers.

I thought all along he'd be kept because of his versatility. As of now, he's a backup, but at least he can man 3 of the 5 spots on the Oline if needed (hopefully not).

technically he can line up at the interior positions, but he's flat out terrible. he can't perform at any position and it ain't even close.

It must be his 3rd round draft status, keeping him around. Like how they kept Brandon Thomas around.

Could be...much like Corey Lemonier. I'd say if he shows little improvement, this will be Martin's last year as well.

Will Redmond just went to IR. Meet the new boss...same as the old boss.
