Screw the tradedown. We need two new starters and can get them at 4 and 35. Ramsey would come in and be the best safety since woodson. Even when the front 4 got pressure the secondary could not get picks. Use the money saved on Carr and hardy to bring in 2 FA. The cowboys have had the worst set of safeties in the NFL for years.

I agree not a trade down guy unless we get blown away. I still don't trust jerry and trading down. Don't over think the #4 pick. A need Wiili be there. Make the pick and move on.

I believe the two DBs might just be the two best players in the draft. May be biased on this because it's something i want the cowboys to do, but, they are two really good players and i think the combine will only help their stock.

I only worry about us taking a QB at #4 because we need one, but don't have the available ones rated lower first round. So we know he won't be there in the 2nd for our pick and we leave a better player on the board because we are drafting for need.

It's a good problem to have, but picks like that are make or break.

IF and I'll say it again to add emphasis, IF the team agrees with you it makes our pick a piece of cake. One of our biggest needs and the two best players likely sitting there...only hard part then becomes which one...

Do you want a cover corner or a versatile Safety? In my rats ass of an opinion, I don't think Ramsey is a true corner in the NFL, but looks like he could be a terrific safety, with the ability to cover guys when the need arises.

I'm taking Hargreaves, personally, but I would be happy as hell with either one.

Depends on the player and where the team sees Jones fitting. Of course if you read my post you will see I wasn't in any way giving my opinion on the draft or any of players...

Not saying you're taking a side, or giving an opinion. Your question was "if the team likes both players, and they are available, who do you take?" I am answering that question with a question. What traits do you (the team) prefer?

Good point. Don't take a QB at 4 unless he grades out as a top pick. We will see in the coming months. I am kind of excited.

Where Jones ends up should determine which one they should shoot for. I like Jones at safety.

I share that thought. Thought that's where he should have been all along.

I just don't know where Jones fits best.
I thought midway through the year it was safety, but after watching him take two of the worst angles to the football two separate weeks that resulted in touchdowns? I just don't know. One would think that's correctable.

Jones needs an offseason

I think part of the problem with Jones last year was the team asked him to do so much - too much. They didn't just allow him to focus on one position and learn the NFL game. That's tough on a rookie - even one as highly thought of as Jones. One week he was CB, next week he is a S, and the next week he is following Gronk around the field, etc...

Put Jones at Safety from day 1 this coming season and let the kid hone his craft.

I agree to a point. This theme has been played out over the Dallas air-ways since the season ended.

however....pursuit angles for a pro safety are absolutely vital with the speed of the game. The one's jones took were lost in space stuff that shouldn't happen....certainly not twice in three weeks. Like I said, I'd like to think this is correctable. IF NOT...he's a corner / slot DB

Like you, I would like to think that is correctable.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but maybe Jones, as a rookie, is/was not quite adjusted to the speed of an NFL game. And not getting solid consistent reps at S contributed to said mental lapses on those two pursuit angles. Obviously, having to run with WRs in the open field as a CB and trying to read an offense/QB and react as a S are two very different skill sets.

I do think he's a keeper with talent and I think we'd all like to see another added back there

I'm only addressing the scenario (his) that those are the two best players. He didn't state that in his scenario the team views one as a corner and one as a safety or more importantly which they like better.

If you want my opinion, In my scenario I take the one I think will be a better NFL player. If I like them the same I think it's easier to find a SS than a CB, but that's going with your assumption that only one is a CB and also assuming the team likes Jones as a FS. I'm not assuming either at this point, but if it were my call I like Jones as a FS

I like Jones as a FS as well. I think either one of those players would upgrade our defense, even if one plays as a safety/nickel. I just view both of them as playmakers and something our defense lacks. I'm not as high on Bosa as some, and not high on the QBs(I see Wentz being the best of the 3). Tunsil may be the best player in the draft, but, I don't see Hargreaves or Ramsey too far behind and are both a top 5 talent IMO. Not keen on taking Treadwell that early and the LBs have injuries.

Of the two I'd be fine with either, they are close. Just depends what we do in FA. I think we need FA corner either way.

if we move Jones to FS i can see us taking at least 1 CB and a SS in Free Agency especially if we release Carr. and if JJ decides not to go for a CB early we could even sign another FA CB later

I can see what might come from all this down the road. SO......
FOR THE RECORD

I just said Jones at FS gives me pause due to his play the last three games. Pursuant angles for your free safety are vital!! I think it's correctable, and yes... playing primarily one position should help.

I think Jones is a player for years to come. FS or CB? I don't know today. I just simply would like another DB at the top of this draft.

Brooks has Ramsey rated as the best player in the draft right now.
