Weeks 1-4 are our weak spot for sure with the dumb club sitting. But if he is resting for several plays every set of four he might be able to get it going? Kick the tires and find out.

I also liked the Boldin train of thought. He was always a beast. He lacks speed but he is one savvy SOB and can move the chains.
That is mostly what I'm thinking. Let's bring them in and see. If nothing else you get an idea of what they have left in case a mid-season injury strikes and you want to move fast.

I was going to ask you if that was why you split it. Shouldn't you also have bought at different casinos? Or that doesn't matter?

Just don't cash them all it at once. Come back every hour is the plan. I don't know the rules they have if someone turns them all in at once and wouldn't want to risk it.

Cowboys Have No Plans To Trade RBs Darren McFadden Or Alfred Morris
15 hours ago Cowboys Leave a comment

Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones said Thursday that they have no plans to trade either Darren McFadden or Alfred Morris, despite using the No. 4 overall pick on Ezekiel Elliott a few weeks ago, via Charean Williams of the Star-Telegram.

As of now, McFadden has been working as the team’s No. 1 running back with Elliott seeing time with the second unit. Dallas has said that they want Elliott to earn the starting job this summer, rather than hand it to him due to his draft status.

McFadden figures to be worked into the mix, even if Elliott is able to win the starting job. However, it’s hard to say what kind of role Morris will have for the Cowboys in 2016.

Dallas also has Lance Dunbar and Darius Jackson under contract, which means he very well could be competing for a roster spot this summer. If the odds are against Morris securing a roster, it would make sense for the Cowboys to at least see if there’s a deal out there, considering that he has a reasonable contract.

McFadden, 28, is in the final year of his two-year, $3 million contract that included a $200,000 signing bonus. He stands to make a base salary of $1.25 million for the 2016 season before testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent next year.

In 2015, McFadden appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and ran for 1,089 yards on 239 carries (4.6 YPC) to go along with 40 receptions for 328 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 42 running back out of 69 qualifying players.

Morris, 27, wound up signing a two-year, $3.5 million contract with the Cowboys back in March after finding limited interest as an unrestricted free agent. He’ll make a base salary of $1.2 million in 2016 and another $1 million in 2017.

Last year, Morris appeared all 16 games for the Redskins and ran for 751 yards on 202 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with 10 receptions for 55 yards receiving and one touchdown. Pro Football Focushas him rated as the No. 40 running back out of 69 qualifying players.

I'm glad they are making Elliott earn the job. McFadden deserves to start at #1 after last year even if it isn't likely to last. I think McFadden is a better #1 back than Morris, but I like Morris as a better fit for this team seeing as how we have Elliott now. If I am Dallas I am not cutting Morris. I'd cut both McFadden and Dunbar first - although I still think the safe route is IR Dunbar and revisit next year to see if the explosiveness is still there.

Exactly what they should do. No need to add a vet right now. Wait to see what we have with some of the kids. The only thing I would do differently is bring them in to see what they have left so that if they decide late in the summer that they need them, the whole thing can happen quickly. But I guess with a guy like Freeney you kind of already know what you'll get. The one place I'd be looking right now to still add the right vet to compete is DB.

Cowboys Pass On Signing CB Brandon Boykin Following Workout, Denies Reports About Hip Issues
Nate Bouda 2 hours ago Cowboys 0 Comments

Update:

Todd Archer of ESPN reports that the Cowboys will not be signing free agent CB Brandon Boykinfollowing his workout for the team on Wednesday.

  • According to Archer, the Cowboys wanted to take a look at Boykin for “down-the-road purposes.”
———–

Free agent CB Brandon Boykin completed his workout with the Cowboys on Wednesday, according to Brandon George.

Boykin said the session “went great” and added that his hip is a “non-issue.”

“My hip is not an issue at all,” Boykin said, per George. “I’ve never missed a game in my entire career.

Boykin added that the reports of him possibly having a career-threatening hip issue are “false.”

This is the second workout for Boykin after he met with the Falcons, and took a physical for the team.

Dallas has shown some interest in available cornerbacks in recent months, but they are clearing being patient with their roster during offseason workouts.

Boykin, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. He was traded to the Steelers last year for a 2016 fifth round pick after Pittsburgh sustained some injuries at cornerback.

The Panthers elected to sign him to a one-year contract back in March before cutting him loose close to a month ago.

In 2015, Boykin was active for all 16 games and recorded 25 tackles, one sack, an interception, a forced fumble and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 38 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.

I agree it's not Boykin's hip that's the issue, it's the fact that he stinks...

His stay in Philly was strange. As a rookie he was fantastic and had 6 picks. Chip wanted him in the slot but Boykin wanted to start so they traded him. He's to small to play lead CB but I think he could be a very good slot guy. He is a big play guy too. He had the pick at the end of the game a few years ago vs. Dallas in that "win and your in" the playoffs game.

He doesn't suck at all but he is only a slot guy.

OK, my apologies to Boykin. Clearly he is a great corner and no one wants corner help in the NFL...

WellI dont know if he was bad in Pittsburgh but he played really well in Philly. They got a nice draft choice for him and he was a soon to be FA.

I can imagine with both Cowboys fans and haters alike. Our free spending ways of years past brought nothing but high expectations and eventual failure. Since we've locked up Romo, Tyron and Dez with massive contracts, we don't really have that much to spend. But if we didn't have one of those contracts on the book, I'd bet we would be up on that list. Don't know when it will happen, but Martin will get his $ too. Next year, we are going to be players for one or maybe two FA CBs, so we could make the list once again.

I believe Stephen has shown himself to be one of the elite decision makers in the NFL. The job he has done getting our cap in order and upgrading the roster talent the last 4-5 years has been outstanding

And doing so in spite of his fathers AlDavis-esque whims.

  • ESPN’s Todd Archer believes David Irving and Benson Mayowa could end up being the Cowboys’ starting defensive ends for Week 1, assuming that DeMarcus Lawrence’s suspension is upheld. The Cowboys writer thinks Mayowa has the best shot to keep his starting position even when Gregory returns.
  • Archer expects Rod Smith to beat out Keith Smith for the Cowboys’ starting fullback job. While Archer admits that it’s hard to say for certain if either player can be an effective lead blocker until pads come on, Smith has experience at tailback which gives him the edge on Keith.

Anyone else wonder if Archer proof read this?
