Who knows what could have happened, but if there were a penalty we would likely have known and Garrett did address it and from what I read Hardy was respectful, but then Just didn't listen at all or change at all. It just doesn't pass the smell test that Garret had no say whatsoever in the matter. He is the head coach of an NFL Football team and not in his first year. Weren't you the guys saying Jerry wasn't even GM any more and in fact Stephen was (personally I don't agree at all that Jerry gave up that oower)? So now he's even more involved than in the past? I just don't see it myself. But Jerry will be Jerry I guess...

I don't believe Garrett has much say in this particular matter. While yes, I do believe that Stephen has taken over most of the roster management from Jerry, I also know that Jerry is still the owner and when he wants something he is going to get it. Ask Bill Parcells about that, he had little control of the T.O. situation. And he left as a result of being overruled by Jerry. I think Garrett was in a very similar situation with Hardy - and Garrett doesn't have the profile of a Bill Parcells. Nor does Garrett seem willing to quit being the Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys on the account of Greg Hardy. So he is left to suck it up and toe the company line on this issue. I'm not stating this as fact, JMO based on what I have seen.

Maybe I should just do the honorable thing here and stick up for Hardy

Yes I have said Jerry has given the GM duties to his don, but I never said Jerry doesn't have a hand in the cookie jar. I think Steven has most of the say with the team, pulling the Manziel card out of Jerry's hand is proof, but I think Jerry as the OWNER like to play with his toy, and the Hardy signing was all Jerry.

The way I look at it we did give him a fair shot (and about $8M) when we signed him. He didn't hold up his end of the bargain, so now someone else can give him a fair shot...

Well if we don't resign him then if Bosa is there, he has to be the pick right?

I don't think Bosa will be there, but I take Bosa no matter who else is on our team. He is the very clear cut #1 pick to me unless you absolutely love one of the QBs.

Well then I guess I should say DE should be the pick. Maybe a tad high for Buckner????

Ok here is my thing and don't think I'm agreeing with JG or JJ for the non handling or handling of Hardy. Everything looks and sounds like he was a detriment to the lockeroom. I know this is Mincey talking. Mincey is a free agent as well and Hardy took a lot of his playing time this season. I don't think any of us can blame JJ for the initial signing itself. I mean we were a contender after 2014 that needed a better pass rush or better CBs. He goes out and gets a player that was a All Pro before , still relatively young , with a lot to prove because of his checkered past. We already know others wanted his services as well so it's not like we were the only ones. JJ wants to win and I thought this was a great move at that price. It would be hard to argue against that.

The season- 6 sacks, 1 Int, 1 FF, 17 hurries, 13 qb hits. Not bad numbers, but not All Pro by a long shot. That was in 12 games. I would be interested to know the percent of time he was double teamed, tripled, etc. I'm not saying he was - it just interests me.

His actions during the year- got into it on the sidelines with players and coaches - not smart but it shows he does have passion. Missing meetings- that shows disregard for authority, irresponsibility, selfishness. I will say on Nov 21, Mincey was quoted in another article talking fairly good about Hardy. I get a teammate sticking up for another though.

Bottom line is winning. We weren't out of it until week 15? Maybe 16? If he was so bad why not let him go then and develop others. If we knew we weren't resigning him- why let him play that last game. If I remember right he could have gotten a million dollar incentive for something. I don't know how incentives hurt the cap, but if it hurts it any then I don't play him.

I'm not knocking Mincey, but I would like to know what Sean Lee, Scandrick, Church, Romo, Marinelli think about the guy.

I'd guess you won't hear what they think, which in and of itself is pretty telling...

I hope the team doesn't write a position on the black board and then go look for the best at that position. You pick the best player available while keeping position needs in the back of your mind. If it's close, then take the CB, QB, etc. That being said, I don't think DE is a tremendous need without Hardy here. We have Lawrence and I think a combo of Mincey on early downs and Gregory in the nickel would be OK on the other side. We also have some other guys that look like they could play a little. We do need help on the DL overall IMO, but it could be a DT or DE. Pick up a guy like Bosa and it makes all of the other guys better too IMO.

What's in it for us playing him the last game?
Why not cut every FA you don't plan to resign? Why didn't Chi cut Forte? Why didn't SD cut Weddle? You need to field a team. Plus, who knows. Maybe no one offers him a contract at all and we sign him for peanuts. I don't know what Jerry's plan is. Knowing Jerry he gives him a huge 3 year deal...

SD basically did cut Weddle.
They told him not to come to the game, but still didn't "cut" him. That was why I included him. Better chance we resign Hardy than they resign Weddle. Plus you don't get comp picks if you cut a guy
