He has played 4 seasons, yes. Three were cut short by injury, 2012,2013 and 2015. I seem to remember Dunbar leaving games in 2014 frequently due to minor injury - be it a tight hamstring or rolled ankle, etc.

The guy has played in 41 games out of a possible 64, and has 915 yards from scrimmage in that time period. He's not even that great as a return man. I just don't get the love for him. So what he had one or two nice games last year and caught 10 passes, blah, blah. Kevin Ogeltree had a nice game here and there too...

Now coming off a Patella reconstruction, just don't see the point.
Last year was the first year they actually had plays for him. Prior to that they just talked about it each off season.
If he didn't get hurt last year he would have ripped it up. I know thats your point he DID get hurt but I don't lump him in with all the other "injury guys" as of yet.

Cowboys Could Try To Trade G Ronald Leary This Weekend
22 mins ago Cowboys 0 Comments

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Cowboys G Ronald Leary has signed his one-year restricted tender on Thursday in the hope of facilitating a trade.

  • Todd Archer just reported that Leary had signed his one-year tender.
Leary could actually be an intriguing player for teams in need of interior offensive line help. As of now, he’s a reserve lineman behind Zack Martin and La’el Collins.

The Cowboys used a second-round tender on Leary that will run them or another team $2.553 million for the 2016 season.

Leary, 26, wound up signing on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2012. He spent part of the 2012 season on their practice squad, but has since made the 53-man roster each season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Leary would free up $2,553,000 in available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2015, Leary was limited to appearing in four games and played a total of 221 snaps for the Cowboys, according to Pro Football Focus.
Mistake IMO to trade Leary unless you get a 4th rounder or better. He is a very good player and locks down both Guard spots and allows one of the starting Guards to kick out to Tackle in an emergency too. I wonder if he was in the deal to trade up with Seattle.

Maybe they can bundle Leary and McFadden for a pick

I prefer to have Leary and the depth vs saving 2.5 million in cap space but if the pick turned out to be a 4th and could have an impact soon on defense, I would be ok with that too

Jerry rules out resigning Hardy.....Good

Cowboys Rule Out Re-Signing DE Greg Hardy
1 min ago Cowboys 0 Comments

Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones officially ruled out the idea of re-signing veteran DE Greg Hardy Friday night, per Todd Archer.

  • According to Archer, that door is now closed for the Cowboys.
Dallas has indicated that they were likely to move on, but this is the first direct confirmation from the team.

There has been little to no buzz regarding Hardy since free agency opened close to a month ago, and his recent decision to sit down for an interview with ESPN didn’t cast him in a positive light.

Hardy, 27, signed a one-year contract worth $11.3 million with the Cowboys that included weekly bonuses as a way to protect the team from him missing a number of games. The contract also contained another $1.8044 million sack-based incentives.

In 2015, Hardy appeared in 12 games and recorded 35 tackles, six sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and a pass defense for the Cowboys. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 17 defensive end out of 48 qualifying players.

I wonder how much of Antrel Rolle's recent struggles have been due to injury and how much due to him just getting older...

Guys like that are only good if we can get a one year, low money deal with an option for a 2nd more expensive year. Not interested in the retreads just looking for one last check before retiring. Never been a fan of those guys in any sport. Cuban seems to love them, but Rick can actually coach them. I don't trust Banny, Lindy, or Garret to be able to coach the aging veteran thats cashing a check.

Don't disagree at all. I'm just not certain he is on his last pay check or has a couple years left. If I remember correctly he signed pretty cheap with Chicago so I imagine his price dropped a lot more since then due to his injury. I'm not saying run out and sign him, but One thing I do know is that he covers a lot better than any safety on this team other than Jones.

What I am looking for is a way to improve our nickel defense. Church is fine on early downs. We need to get another guy with decent (heck I'd settle for not horrible) cover skills out there on passing downs. If it were my decision the only safety I would play in the nickel/dime out of this group is Jones unless you want to move Church up next to Lee at LB.

A red flag for me is that he said "my heart is still in NY". We have seen guys in all sports that love a city and do well there, but can't play anywhere else because they just don't care as much. It's why in baseball you never sign or trade for a Yankees star. He will suck anywhere else, guaranteed. If Rolle feels the same way, then best to save your money and roster spot.

Was wondering the same thing. Was also waiting to see if Jarius Byrd might get cut after his club went safety early...

Very interesting thought. With Vaccaro already there if this kid looks a starter they could look to cut salary there. They do have a huge cap problem, but most of that is Brees. They would have a lot of dead money to let Byrd go. Also I'm not sure about their safety depth beyond the big names, maybe they need all of them? Even if NO thinks he still has it, they may not think he is worth that contract with Vaccaro and the OSU kid on the squad, but I don't think they cut him and take on that dead money unless they think he is no longer a good player.

Biggest issue is Byrd hasn't been good in NO. He has been hurt a lot, so was it due to injury only or has his play slipped. My gut tells me if he is cut he won't be getting a mega deal and he would be an upgrade here, but would he be enough of an upgrade to offset whatever salary he would get? Now that the draft has passed with no improvement in the secondary I would think we would be more likely to sign someone if available- we already screwed up and missed the boat in FA. Ideally I'd prefer a young cover type guy to be the ying to Church's yang at this point. But I would certainly kick the tires on Byrd if the scouts can find enough tape on him to analyze...

Yep, Vonn Bell was a guy I would have liked for the Cowboys in the 2nd round, though I'm good with the Smith pick. I think with the Saints cap problems, if Bell looks like he can step in beside Vaccaro and start, then Byrd will be a cap casualty.
I heard something on Jaylon Smith that I totally agreed with. Imagine if next years draft order were already set, and the team with a top 5 overall pick next year came to Dallas and said they'd give that pick for the Cowboys 2016 2nd rounder....anyone would take that deal...well, if Smith makes it back(which the Cowboys team Dr. who performed the surgery believes he will), Smith would certainly be a top 5 player in next years draft. Maybe a glass half full way to look at it, but certainly true nonetheless

Hey, nothing wrong with that...that's what us fans do. :suds:
Shoot...I actually think K. Moore won't be half bad next year for 3 maybe 4 games should what the SportsHoopla redskin fans think will happen next season with Romo. :hope:

I think with the reps he is going to get this offseason, with a healthy Dez, adding in Elliott....Moore could do fine for 3-4 weeks

I'm not sure Hoyer would be better than Moore. Kaep would cost too much. I like McCown, but it would be a new system. Moore, with another year of mastering the offense seems like as good an option as there is. Who would you like to see them go after?
