I didn't do a deep investigation of each move. But if I saw a player DFA'd, with no corosponding assignment, I included him on the list.

Gotcha. I'm sure there are teams hard up for catching that will take a flyer, but also wouldn't be surprised if both cleared and one ended up back here. I like WIlson.

The Pirates are losers in the fact they gave up two of their top 20 prospects to dump Liriano's salary.

I really thought Texas needed a starter. Relying on Darvish returning and killing it is risky.

But with Beltran and Lucroy they likely have a better lineup than the Jays now assuming Beltran continues his tendency of playing better as the season winds down.

I would have liked a clear #1 at the deadline, but the price was too high. We got Harrel, he has the stuff to be a solid #5 which is what we need. We have Cole and Yu, Perez and Griffin both looked solid last outings. Maybe the doldrums are over for Texas.

Texas is 12th in the AL in ERA. Cleveland, Toronto and Houston are all potential playoff spot/series rivals and are 1-2-3 in league ERA. Yu could help, but he also might be a far cry from old Yu and in that case this is a massive lost opportunity for TX.

I think any price would've been worth it for Sale. Texas had what Chicago was asking. They should've done it.

We'll agree to disagree on that. Our ERA is so bad because of the trash we were having to pitch while Darvish, Lewis, and Holland were on the DL. They really were that bad. But they're not pitching any more so that ERA will definitely be dropping.

Colby Lewis' career ERA is 4.68. I would probably anticipate regression there more than him maintaining what he's done so far this season.

Not too sure why you're banking on Holland, either - from the end of April until he went down his ERA was 7.08 and his WHIP was 1.69.

If Yu comes back strong him and Hamels can be as strong a 1-2 punch as there is, but in an American League where offence is king shit can go south real fast thanks to bad starting pitching.

4 things.

1) if you haven't paid attention to Colby's career and who he is as a pitcher I can understand why you say that. Colby has some really bad games because when he is t painting he's pitching batting practice. I'm telling you he'll be a boost, and he's an absolute monster in the post season.

2) The only thing I'm saying about Holland is he's better than what we have been throwing out there. Also, there's a really good chance holland had been pitching injured since some time in May. Again, I'm not saying we're getting a couple of aces back. Just saying they'll be better than what we had.

3) Our bullpen was horrid there for a stretch. Really killed our team ERA as well. Those guys seem to have changed course, and are now healthy. Plus we added Jeffress to the pen. Texas probably has the best pen in the AL, and maybe baseball now.

4) speaking of regression. Perez was unusually bad for a little over a month there. Seems he's out of that now and will regress to his norm. There's another difference.

Just sit back and watch.

I think the Yankees are winners, and I love the way that rental-Carlos-Beltran has been traded for a top pitching prospect twice now. First it was Wheeler from the Giants, now Dillon Tate from the Rangers. Amazing to be traded for that kind of talent twice, especially given how many years have passed in the meantime.
