I think this is a horrible move considering the Heat are a long shot.

If it were 50/50, sure...

But, we all know it's the Warriors or Thunder.

Lakers or Mavs gonna steal him.

He also seems like the kind of player who could change his mind if he meets with multiple teams.

Vlade better be listening to offers about Cousins. The Kings probably won't make the playoffs this year, and they need to trade him before he walks away as a FA. The longer he's under contract the more they could get for him.

If I were Miami, I'd give up on KD for the time being, and try to secure Whiteside first. Although as I type this, I'm sure Riley has already thought that strategy out

Agree.
Like I suggested earlier, if KD wants Miami, he'd want Miami w/ Whiteside.
You lock him up right away and then go from there.

Possible money differences? Bigger role? Or with him ready to sign on July 1st, maybe he jumps at another team? I mean, I truly don't know nearly as much about him as you guys do, so the way I'll ultimately go into all of this is to assume that he'll sign with Miami. But if I may dream for a bit.....a Whiteside/Russell pick and roll would be sick...

I just hope Riley doesn't try to lowball him.
That's why I said all things being equal.
As far as role, his grew here as the season progressed.
If teams are offering you a max, they intend of playing you.

I think that he also seeks comfort.
He's never been stable in any situation before.
We'll know soon enough if he feels he fits in here or not.

Taj would be a good get for the Clips, especially if they move Griffin
