I'll make an avatar bet with anyone who wants to take it--- OKC vs. the field that Durant stays--- i will take OKC.

He is not going anywhere. Honestly- i think when all is said and done OKC might have the most talented team in the league- they got to Game 7 vs. the Warriors with a 1st year coach- Adams and Kanter are still young and improving. Oladipo strengthens them matchup wise vs. Golden State. I think the Spurs are finally getting old- Duncan and Ginobili look to be pretty done. I do think that Griffin will come out and try and prove that he is not the clown he acted last year and the Clips will be pretty good next year.

But the point is- I cant see Durant waiving the white flag after going to 7 games and joining Golden State when the teams are just so close tal;ent wise. He will be back in OKC.

oh NOW this asshole wants to bet...:L

They are gonna try to go two for one with that 30 mil in cap.

They need a starting Center and a starting sg.

Horford wants a 30 million max.

Ditto for Howard.

Screw that.

Noah may be getting 30 million per from the Wizards.....:pound:

I agree. They came very close this year. I think the most likely scenario is that KD signs a 2 year with opt out after 1 to give it one more shot in OKC. If they don't get it done next year, then I think both he and Westbrook walk.

This is what most likely happens. He's just being wined and dined.

There was a report last week the Wizards were getting ready to prepare the offer when FA opens.
The Wizards are denying it according to the Washington Post. I know ppl think we're THAT stupid, but i'm not buying it.

Grunfeld is the GM.....never underestimate what he's capable of. He wasn't very good with the Knicks.

Even with the cap going up.....he's not worth more than 10-12 per season imo, max 14 since he's similar to Tyson Chandler and he got that last summer. He may not be done but he's had a cpouple bad seasons. Needs to show he can still play before getting seriously paid but at 31 he doesn't have a lot of time left to prove that.

this is extremely wrong. The cap was expected to be 90 for a long time- ever since last offseason at the VERY least. That was the part of the leverage Thompson was using if you remember correctly- which I am sure you probably dont.

THE DAY Thompson signed that contract IN THIS HERE ARTICLE the guy estimates the cap will be 94 million for the next year.

Grade the deal: Cavaliers sign Tristan Thompson for $82 million

cmon dude.

I recall what I wrote, but I suppose others predicted a much higher number. Larry Coon, who's a cap guru, posted this in 2014-2015 about the projected salary cap:

New cap, tax and lockout projections

"The NBA issued new projections for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 salary cap and luxury tax thresholds. The 2014-15 salary cap is now projected to be $63.2 million and the tax level is projected to be $77.0 million. The numbers for 2015-16 are now projected to be $66.5 million and $81.0 million, respectively."

After doing a bit more research, it does look like the NBA sent out a memo prior to the off-season of the cap projections jumping to 89M. So for the contact portion you are right about the cap implications.

Yea, he's been on a steady decline for the last 3 years, and coming off shoulder surgery and playing only 29 games last year, I don't see him getting the max from anyone tbh.

In other non-blockbuster news, the Warriors look like they're set to hire Mike Brown to replace Luke Walton on the staff. I think it's a solid hire. Not sure of any other "big" names out there they could have had to replace him.

Just saw that. Kind of a head-scratcher to me.
