LolSo when does this thread start to heat up again? Maybe in a couple of days, after we've licked our wounds and have a bit clearer heads?
Great minds, I guess...

I'd like to add Law to that list (I know, I was ready to release the entire bullpen earlier). He, by far, is the best pitcher in the bullpen. All relievers won't be traded, at least keep the best of the bunch.Locks for 2017...
Crawford
Posey
Bumgarner
Cueto
Moore
EVERYONE else is open to being moved for improvement. I actually WANT a bit of a house cleaning. Sometimes a locker room needs to be shuffled.
You started sooner than I thought.Lol

Looking forward to it.I've been wanting to post some prospect stuff, AFL news, a post-season list. I'll probably wait a day though.
GET A FUCKING CLOSER
I think yesterday did a lot to build Law. If the PsTB feel he is worth handing the job to, I will trust them. But I want Melancon or Chapman. Chapman is too non-PC for the SF crowd to ever embrace, so I am not expecting that one to happen. They need more than 1 new pen arm but yeah a shut down closer would make the remaining guys a lot better.
Going after Melancon, Chapman or Janson goes against everything we know about the Giants. You are probably right that we will not land any of them.I'm okay with Melancon, but I really wouldn't mind putting Law there full time, or even Will Smith. He was fantastic down the stretch and has the stuff. There are good relievers out there we could get cheaper so we can also target a bat. Boone Logan, Brad Zeigler, Matt Belisle to name a few.
I like it. Gives the team flexibility at 3rd base, gives some young guys a chance and allows for Arroyo to be promoted if he starts well in Sacramento and looks ready. If all fails, they can fill any holes in July.Is there any chance Gonor has played himself into Arb? Would it make sense for him to be the opening day 3B, with Nunez acting as the super-sub at 3B, SS, 2B and LF? He could still get starting ABs while providing depth on the bench. Having Gonor as the 3B is a cheap way of adding depth and still keeping the spot open for Aroyo, should the need arise. And having Nunez as a sub allows the team to "commit" to McParker while still having coverage and still allowing a spot for Slater if needed.
This is all a bit of a cheap way to rebuild, but the team does not have a lot of money to fill the holes that need filling, so thinking outside the box is needed here.

Arb-Eligible (5)
Cory Gearrin (A1)
Conor Gillaspie (A2)
George Kontos (A2)
Will Smith (A2)
Eduardo Nunez (A3)
I agree, but my point was more along the lines of who the Giants wouldn't move, even if they could. If they COULD move either of them, I think they would certainly entertain the idea.Add to that list:
Pence
Poopturdzija
NOBODY is taking on those contracts.
A few weeks after I first talked about these guys, and I still think Nunez and Smith are the only no-brainers. However, Gonor has played himself from a no-brainer non-tender to a likely Arb guy. That leaves Gearrin and Kontos. Seeing as Kontos made the post season roster and Gearrin did not, I think it is easy to see where they rank against each other. But seeing that Kontos was not called on in "the inning", he is far from guaranteed a spot for next year.
I expect Nunez, Smith, Gillaspie and Kontos to all be offered Arb. However, Gillaspie and Kontos will still be DFA targets in ST (think Ishi in '15).
