NFL Comparisons for Top 2015 Receiver Prospects

IF these comparisons are close, I'd be fine with any of them. Most mocks have Devin Smith going round 2, so even if we wait a round, that works too.

granted, do have concerns with DGB and don't want to get him round 1. Cause all that talent won't be good sitting on the bench, or on suspension. That said, no doubt Baalke and staff will do their due diligence.

Kiper 3.0 has DE Arik Armstead to us.

I read about a month ago, that he certainly looks the part but doesn't have the performance? Maybe I'm recalling it wrong, but something to the effect he didn't show up enough in games?

Anyway, with all the talent at WR, Trae Waynes, and Pass Rushers, can't see how this guy ends up BPA for us?

I think we go WR or CB now. After the signing of Dockett. No reason to draft at the Dline early in the draft.

yeah, that was written before the Dockett signing. Plus, don't think a DL prospect will provide more value than a WR?

I don't think it was written before the signing just because Armstead has been mention as a possible pick and the 49ers also had a meeting with him. I do think now they don't go DL until after the 3rd round, if they go DL at all. Maybe a redshirt type player(someone that is hurt and we can put away for the following year.

Next year we might have 2 or 3 compensatory picks!

yep, maybe. but I'd take a 3rd or 4th over three later picks.

anyway, with more cap opening up, I see Baalke adding a few more FA's. So the net difference will likely be reduced.

Reports: 49ers cut WR Stevie Johnson - San Francisco 49ers Blog - ESPN

IMO WR at 15th is still in play, cause we'll need one next season and beyond. Don't see Boldin getting another contract, and Torrey Smith is really on a one year "prove it" deal. Torrey Smith would have to show much more than he has, to get year 2.

Not we HAVE to draft WR, but not ruling it out.

It is also contingent on how Kaep progresses this year. Who knows if all these trade rumors are true, but Kaep has to improve on his accuracy and pocket awareness. OL needs to play much better than last year too. But I agree that Niners need to draft a WR. This could be Boldin's last season.

IMO it will be, and if it is we'll only be left with a deep threat.....maybe left with?

so next month WR in round 1 does appears closer to zero than 100%, but can't rule it out completely.

After 2015, Boldin and VD could be gone. Don't know if Patton will get an opportunity this upcoming season. That would leave the Niners with Torey Smith and Ellington. Niners definitely need to draft a WR

“I’ve always said this – when the value is similar, you’re going to go with the need,” Baalke said. “When the value is not similar, if there is a guy you have rated extremely high and the next guy is a tier down from that or two tiers down, you’re not going to take that two-tiered guy that’s two tiers below because you need that position.”

yes, yes, yes!

unfortunately for us, we'll never know who our BPA's are? We're not 49er Assistant Coaches, not in the Personnel Department, don't know the schemes in detail, are not experience talent evaluators, ie simply not qualified despite what we think.

So for all the months leading up to the draft, all we can do is use Need.
