Robertson has no value. Even as a backup for Leo. Check the numbers. He's a wasted roster spot.
He had value against LHPs, .821 OPS, .398 OBP & .423 SLG and .330 AVG and more walks than strikeout

He's only signed through next year. So the big question next year is do we sign him as primarily as a DH or let him walk. It's gotta come down to that.
The DH spot is going to get awfully crowded with Fielder, Choo and Beltre all probably needing to go there eventually. lol
108 PA vs LHP is SSS. I would rather have Rua who in 28 games put up a better WPA and fWAR than Robertson did in 70. I think Rua and Smo have higher ceilings in the long run.He had value against LHPs, .821 OPS, .398 OBP & .423 SLG and .330 AVG and more walks than strikeout

And yeah I realize they are both SSS as well. Invite em all to ST and see what happens.
Neither of those guys can play CF, that's apples to oranges
I think he is a very good manager who has always had a low budget team to work with. Felt like Minnesota played good fundamental ball most of the time. But I am good with Bogar.
We discussed the need of a back up yesterday. If Roberson is not on the team 2015 we will have to find one.Daniel Robertson might have played CF this year, but it was only out of pure necessity. They need to address this in the off season if they don't want Leonys hitting against LHP every game.

I think if I had to pick something to go on I would pick what they have done in the regular season over what they do next spring. I have seen a lot of guys have great ST and then fall flat once the season starts. Didn't Choice have a good ST this year? Sometimes ST is all you have to go on, but this season provided us with an ample opportunity for tryouts for 2015.

Well that's a very good question. He has the speed and nice height.I wonder if Sardinas could learn to play CF?
Bring him on. So many problems to solve and this one has not been given much attention b/c of Robertson and I think he won't be back.I'm sure Jared Hoying will be given an opportunity in ST. He's LH, but he hit the same against LH pitchers as he did RH pitchers. He hit 8 HR against LH pitching too. He hit 18 against RH pitching. He's already had 2 years in AAA. It might be a good time to get his feet wet. In June his OPS was 1.096, and August it was 1.038.
Choice was just given as an example of how you can't always trust ST stats. I would just give a lot more weight to their 2014 than I would their 2015 ST. If they completely fall apart next spring then yes that would weigh very heavily into the decisions. For example, if JPA goes to ST and hits .400 and Rua hits .275 in ST I still pick Rua over JPA to play 1B. That's just me though. Someone else may see it differently. That plus their 2014 would be taken into consideration. Choice didn't have a 2013 with the Rangers to go off of before his 2014 ST.

I still don't understand why he didn't get an invite to play up here in September.
