According to the article I posted, Texas finished paying A-Rod in 2010. Not sure about what Grant wrote.

10 years/$252M (2001-10). Signed by Texas as a free agent 12/00. $10M signing bonus (paid 2001-05). 01:$21M, 02:$21M, 03:$21M, 04:$21M, 05:$25M, 06:$25M, 07:$27M, 08:$27M, 09:$27M, 10:$27M. Award bonuses. Full no-trade clause. Player may opt out of contract after 2007 season. Agreed 12/01 to defer $45M in salary to 2011-20 at 3% interest. Acquired by NY Yankees in trade from Texas 2/04 (waived no-trade clause). Rodriguez exercised right to opt out and become a free agent 10/07. (Deal negotiated by Rodriguez' original agent, Scott Boras.)

This is from the baseball prospectus article, don't know if it muddies the waters or helps clear anything up?

Regardless....if we owe that piece-of-crap more than a kosher sandwich it's a shame.

Do you realize with his baseball salaries, and endorsements he will have made about 650 million dollars in his life before he's 40?

Do you realize with his baseball salaries, and endorsements he will have made well over 1/2 billion dollars in his life before he's 40? Actually, I believe that amount is at least 100 million low too.

Well, if it makes you feel better, his actual take-home is nowhere near that. Taxes, agents, advisers, etc.

You mean grade A rich scumbag. Hi Murph.

Hello DT! Yeah that sorry sack is rich and likely has 0 regret that he cheated and lied to get that rich. Just saying, no real axe. There are a lot worse individuals out there that I would worry about before Arod

Not to derail this thread or lead us way down a rabbit hole into several pages of arguments, but where would you rank A-Rod in the Baseball Scumbag Hall of Fame... let's say just considering players over the last 30 years. Is he ahead of or behind: Canseco? Bonds? Clemens? Rose? Rocker? Belle? Just throwing out a few names. Feel free to add others.

Well damn, that's a tough one. Can make a case for each and every one of these guys.

We're giving up Sardinas, Knebel, and Diplan. I can definitely live with that!

Rickey Henderson, Arod, Rocker, Albert are on my list though my biased for Rose,Canseco, Bonds and Clemens because I liked them as players shouldn't leave them expunged.

I will hold off judgment about the trade until I see what we can flip him for in July if indeed we are sellers in July.

Finally got our MORP, just had to wait almost all offseason and a 24 hour period with no news. WOOHOO! I am ok with the package as well, considering they didn't ask me anyway.
