We passed in the second round so I guess we aren't taking anyone else.

DeShields stole 100 bases in 2012 and over 50 each of the last 2 years. He struggled for average in AA this past season.

Did not realize that the Reds also traded Simon as he is going to Detroit. Detroit may have something switching out Porcello with Simon and adding Cespedes with a good nucleus of bats already.

In the minor league phase of the draft we selected Roderick(Rock) Shoulders from the Cubs. He plays 1B.

Noticed he played 2B more than in the OF. But primarily in the OF in 2014.

Man we are losing out on everyone.

If you consider missing the opportunity to be strapped to McCarthy for 4 years and 54 million dollars "losing out" then I guess.

It also assumes that Texas is in on "everyone". Making a move just to satiate bored Rangers fans is pretty foolish. Most I would have gone is 3/36 for B-Mac and that was pushing it.

We are hamstrung by our budget. It even affects who we can bring in via trade as some of the guys we may have targeted to trade for are due to make too much money. This isn't surprising at all given what JD has been saying all along about our budget.

Meh, I don't think we're as hamstrung as you think.

I wonder if his struggles stem from this.

I was thinking 3 for $30 as the high end. But can't blame a guy for taking 4 @ $48.

The Dodgers are blowing the doors off the old Steinbrenner days.

Not only does he get to be #4 the top 3 pitchers on his team are Kershaw Greinke and Ryu. I would take that deal in a heartbeat. Dodgers making every move possible to be great this year.

Our "budget" is a joke. We are the 4th largest market in the US and until last year our fans had been attending games in record numbers. Yet we spend like a mid-market team.

Let me be clear. I am not in favor of spending like drunken fools like the Dodgers, Yankees, and Angels do. Spending big doesn't guarantee wins. In fact, it often does the exact opposite. But this notion that we don't chase certain signings or trades that would definitely make the team better because we are "limited by budget" is ridiculous. Our ownership, combined with the recent fan support and huge tv deal, could certainly afford a higher payroll.
