I'd rather have Niese than Gee. Gee hasn't been that great considering he's in the NL. He's had 1 good year.

Do you mean he will start the third game of the season or do you mean he will be our third best pitcher? I don't think he will be our third best pitcher unless we have injuries to Yu, Derek, or Colby. I think there is at least a 50% chance that even Tepesch would have better numbers since Nick had a better ERA than Masterson in 2014. Nick's ERA was a run and a half better in fact.

If those two are already better than Nick then Masterson really might be our 7th best pitcher if we get him because I really think that Tep will continue to improve and could very well be better than Masterson if given the opportunity.

Once again, I don't like Masterson that much, but expecting him to put up the same bad numbers he did last year is not wise. He is likely to bounce back.

If last year was the one time I would agree completely. The only thing he has going for him is that he really hasn't had back to back bad years since he was much younger. I would consider it a 50% chance that he has a bad year again. Now if we get him on a one year deal and JD gets the opportunity to flip him in July it might be worth a gamble. If he does have another bad year I hope management would put him in the pen and let one of the younger guys get the experience come July.

I might have overestimated when I predicted the A's to finish 4th. That was before the dump. The Asstros might finish ahead of them.

I have a feeling those two will start the year in the minors. I would say they are a year away but it is possible one of them could be called up during the year and my guess is it would be Thompson.
