I wonder if Luis heredia would be too high of an asking price for Moreland

don't see it. Choice has more chance of making the ML roster than Beltre unless we are really done and this is what we are going into 2014 with.

Now the season is over b/c you start the season with Beltre as your late inning replacement OFer and Choice in AAA?

Get a grip Scottie and back away from the ledge

Where ARE darryl and DT, excuse my grammar...
Saw the Desolation of Smaug. Great film. Go run and see it. DT is traveling a lot, so who knows. Where the heck is Terps? No telling when about Choo. Not sure which team Boris is expecting to jump into this.

It was quite a long movie. I enjoyed it as well.

The scuttlebutt on ESPN today is that you shouldn't care about losing "sandwich" picks from the supplemental draft, because most of those players never make the roster anyway....

I laugh at short sided fucktards that think they know baseball and then post shit like that. No not every player that is drafted in that "sandwich" round makes your roster, but there are plenty of reasons you want those picks. Trout and Wacha are two very recent examples.

I'm agreeing with you, and JD has drafted well in that round too, Scheppers, Gallo, LuJax and Olt for example. But, Trout wasn't a sandwich pick. He was taken in 1st round under old compensation rules.

Trout was drafted by the Angels, using their compensation pick from the New York Yankees for signing Mark Teixeira, 25th overall in the 2009 MLB Draft.

I think he was saying simply that giving up draft picks is a bad idea, but technically neither of those guys was a "sandwich" round pick (19 & 25)

nowhere near any edge. just don't think Beltre brings anything to the team and would be wasting a spot on the 25-man roster

Who would you replace Beltre with? Choice? he needs more time in AAA if he's truly expected to be a future COF for us, he'd be wasting away on the bench

Beltre is only regarded as one of our best defensive OFers, but you're right, he brings nothing of value

Never mind his speed, and the fact he did hit at the major league level when given an opportunity last year.

yes he's a good defensive OF'er i don't argue that but offensively he is a liability and the team at present has enough of those already locked into the team with Moreland, Soto, Profar and Martin. we need someone who will also bring some offense.

basing something on 40 at bats and 5 hits with 1 stolen base and 2 caught stealing is what you think is a good basis for giving him a bench spot?

I'm not opposed to it. We need to start giving young guys and kids their chances if there isn't a whole lot of fall back options in my opinion.

we may have to if what JD is saying is true but as fans we shouldn't expect this team to be able to compete with Oakland and the Angels. we have good pitching , a reasonable good defensive team but offensively we will probably see a continuation of the failure to score sufficient runs with RISP. with the exception of Fielder, Beltre & Rios we are putting a lot of weight on young inexperienced players

I still think JD acquires a COFer through FA or trade. I'm hoping without getting my hopes up, if that makes sense. JD has to know this team won't contend as currently constructed, unless the kids go crazy.
